Sure someone used to sell these made up i think from Hirst Arts kits? Anyway, any one know where i can get some reasonable priced pillars, temples etc suitable for 28mm. I actually want them for a victorian sci fi game but based in egypt. Ta Andy |

Try a pet store or ebay for aquarium decor. Some accessories are pseudo-Egyptian in appearance and reasonably priced. |

Petco makes aquarium decor called Egyptian Column Ruins and Egyptian Ruins. I have both, and they are beautiful. I believe that Armorcast Battlefield Terrain makes Egyptian columns and other related stuff. Also, Scotia Grendel makes Egyptian ruins. Their Pharaohs Tomb (F0014) is a great piece. Richard |

Good idea! You could also check out Itar's Workshop's Egyptian range of terrain pieces, which are very nice and not too expensive. I use some of their pieces for my Afghan War set-ups. Here's a link to their Egyptian collection: link |

I would second all of the suggestions above. Here is the Armorcast link:http://armorcast.com/store/index.php?manufacturers_id=10&sort=4a&filter_id=41 If you can find the Playmobile Pharaoh's tomb play set, it is well worth the effort. It is really a very nice model of Hathor's temple at Edfu. There is someone who makes up kits of Egyptian terrain using Hirst moulds. Plaster casting can be a hobby all to itself. I have scratch built much of my Egyptian stuff, using details from many sources. link |

I've got most of the hirst arts moulds, and I've made them and sold them (once I'd finished using them for a convention game or had a better idea on how to do them) The problem is while the material is not that expensive, (I work it out at about $5 USD per cast) the real problem is the time to assemble and paint. Given most wargamer's notorious frugality, it's very difficult to sell stuff and still get adequete compensation for that time. Also, given the weight and relative fragility, even using dental stone, posting them assembled and painted is not really practical, unless maybe broken down in to subassemblies. Kits are workable. Complete building out of Hirst Arts are are a questionable proposition. |

Wow, I should not have been posting earlier! Blame it on the Holiday weekend. It is the Horus temple at Edfu, not Hathor's. It is Ptolemaic but was still constructed in very traditional ways. I don't know what happened with my attempt to link Armourcast, but you can find that here on TMP in the Manufacturers listing. Although absolutely beautiful, the Hirst castings would not work for me, as so much of my terrain has to transport. I have a ruined temple built around columns I found at the pet store. Combine that with some bits and pieces, and you would have a nice setting for your adventures. I will be running a Darkest Africa game with an Egyptian theme this year at Origins in June. |
