Cheers

I like the camo on the Soviet/Russian vehicle. The mud weathering on both vehicles is also very good.

It is a nice start and good luck on your project.

Barks125 May 2013 5:33 a.m. PST

Nice! Can I ask what colours you used?

GeoffQRF25 May 2013 9:53 a.m. PST

Nice painting. The air defence presence on the right hasn't gone unnoticed either – QRF 2S6 Tunguskas? ;-)

Hazza31B25 May 2013 11:59 a.m. PST

Thanks for all the comments guys.

@geoff – indeed they are and there very beautiful models.

@Barks for the t80 I used interior green, negro black and light grey. All vallejo model air. The chieftain is tank green and 75% olive grey/25% black, again model air.

GROSSMAN25 May 2013 12:16 p.m. PST

Only thing I would suggest is paint a wash of Tudor polysatin MINWAX of on them it makes all the difference in the world. Try it on one to see what you think.
Nice paint jobs get nicer.

Love the Chieftain, one of my all-time favorites…

The QRF Soviets are one of their nicest ranges IMHO…

Damon.

Hazza31B25 May 2013 2:34 p.m. PST

To be honest I was hesitant about purchasing from them because of the lack of reviews and some less then shining reviews. But I can now say hand on my heart that these models are fantastic and I cant recommend them enough to anyone. I would say there on par with battlefront metals, some of them better.

I have purchased the
T-80bv
SA-9
SA-13
2S6
PION
BTR90
Chieftain
Swingfire
Scimitar
Soviet MR troops
Airborne troops.

Love them all. 1 or 2 minor complaints but no different to any other companies.

For additional variation with the Soviet infantry, take a look at our Syrians – I'm just looking at using these myself: link

Lovely painting mate!

With the Chieftain, did you do anything with the model other than de flash and wire brush – have you raised the turret or anything like that?

Hazza31B25 May 2013 3:54 p.m. PST

@sparked

Nothing at all.

Milites26 May 2013 4:02 a.m. PST

Always thought the Chieftain was a more substantial tank, compared to the T-80 series. Reactive armour does bulk thinks out I guess.

MaahisKuningas9026 May 2013 11:19 p.m. PST

@Geoff:

They will definetly add some nice variation, but have you noted that theyre head shorter than their soviet comrades? :P By the way, to exploit subjects cold war connections, is there any news about Kanone Jadgpanzer?

Models: That bravo-victor looks awesome! The weathering looks good, and colour choices are pale enough to reflect scale and dust.

Fred Cartwright27 May 2013 6:38 a.m. PST

Geoff is that the Stillbrew Chieftain? Turret looks a lot bulkier than normal.

GeoffQRF27 May 2013 6:58 a.m. PST

Yep. I'm not aware that we have done anything to it, and he says he hasn't.

Hazza31B27 May 2013 6:37 p.m. PST

Yeah I haven't done anything to it. Ill take some photos of the other 8 chieftains next to it when they arrive.

Hazza31B27 May 2013 11:25 p.m. PST

2 more T80s done

GeoffQRF28 May 2013 2:37 a.m. PST

Looking very pretty.

…have you noted that they're head shorter than their soviet comrades?

They are notably shorter than the Paras (who, truth be told) are probably on the 'big' side, but I hope to rework those soon) but much closer to the motor rifle figures.

Is there any news about Kanone Jadgpanzer?

I am told it is done and on the way.

Hazza31B28 May 2013 2:07 p.m. PST

Was a mission to assemble and I'm sure it's wrong but looks good.

Louie N28 May 2013 8:39 p.m. PST

Good work.

Thanks

Chatticus Finch29 Jun 2013 11:28 p.m. PST

Brilliant modelling! Thanks for putting up the pics of the QRF models, like you were a little hesitant to purchase reading reviews of them previously. However, seeing them here has given me a change of heart!

Oh, Geoff, since you're lurking around here, any chance of making some 15mm modern PLA kit and a South African G-6 Self-Propelled Gun?

Do that and my wallet is yours :D

Hazza31B30 Jun 2013 11:49 p.m. PST

Thanks mate!

Put some pictures up on my blog of my first game.

The ZSL-92 is done…. I just need to get around to finishing it and putting it into mould.

Still thinking about the G-6!

Hazza31B01 Jul 2013 1:58 p.m. PST

Would love to do a modern 15mm Chinese force

BMP-T will be great! Its so sci-fi looking vehicle.

mwnciboo02 Aug 2013 2:08 p.m. PST

WOW!!! Nice mate, if you want anything on my Blog let me know. It's good to see the rules I laboured on are being used.

This thread made me grin.

Hazza31B04 Aug 2013 7:15 p.m. PST

Mwnciboo cheers !
Glad you like them, I look forward to seeing more of your stuff. Feel free to display anything of mine if you want on your blog. Might motivate me to finish my soviet infantry and BMPs let alone making a start on my US Cav.

mwnciboo08 Aug 2013 1:54 p.m. PST

Definitely want your stuff on the blog it's epic!!!

LOL just noticed you have a platoon of Schiwwer Wagens on the Painting table – So do I, with a Platoon of STuG H 42's.

I need to do a WWII Blog at somepoint because I have tons of WWII stuff, but I've become cold war obsessed. I've only just found out Rhodesia had 8 T55's in 1980, E Squadron Rhodesian Armoured Corps. So between 1986, Rhodesia and Arab-Israeli my wargaming and painting table will be full for 24 months!
