Does anyone have any information on the appearance and/or organization of this unit at Brandywine. I believe I read that it was drawn from all the regular units of the cont. line.

They were drafts of picked men from various regiments, so there would be no "uniform" appearance to them. They were created to replace Morgan's rifle corps, which had been sent north to Saratoga.

would they have been rifle armed, and would light infantry caps been common at this point?

They were a mix of muskets and rifles, IIRC, and headgear would be any and all types, so you can mix them up. There really weren't any light companies to speak of during this particular time in the war. Same for uniforms-- use hunting shirts, brown uniform coats, blue uniform coats, etc.

Well, that's what "I" would use…

Eric, DAF was holding back from endorsing Fife and Drum and I must say I was admiring his self restraint – and then you had to post that! :-)

Well, I'm hoping to do a "drive by" for Historicon.

But, I'm hoping DAF will be able to make Fall-In, which would be MUCH more convenient…
