For a 'Lost civilization' of pre-gunpowder level ŕ la She link or found on a 'Lost Continent' (emerged link or underground en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pellucidar ) the Tékumel minis -for once a range not made of pastiches of historical Ancient / Medieval types!- are perfect. Eureka unfortunately sold their great range, and the Tékumel Project thetekumelproject.blogspot.fr / Tékumel club thetekumelclub.blogspot.fr seems unable to re-use the molds; but new minis are progressively made.
linkThe new light infantry girls of the Legion of the Sapphire Kirtle
linkcould easily be converted to man war machines (such as the GW [Dark] Elves bolt throwers or -in fixed positions- Megalith scorpio link ). See also TMP link and linkThe revamped Bronze Age Minis 'Dead Earth Warrior Women' link
and Raging Heroes (Fantasy) 'Blood Vestals' link
would also fit. If horses exist here -an Aryiki TMP link (search TMP message boards for Aryiki) like world?- the Eureka Amazon cataphracts (oddly listed under 'Myth' but not under 'Amazons' link ) are quite spectacular
For the ambitious and skilled scratchbuilt Umbar-type ships link with 'bat wings' sails link would nicely add to 'exoticism'.
As usual, most of such Lost World / Skull Island would be populated with dinosaurs and cave girls in fur bikini link -Eureka / Shadowforge link
Maidenhead link
Your explorers can discover such 'Lost World' / 'Mysterious Island' in any period from Antiquity to the 1930 'Pulp' years, but more probably during the Pirates / 18th C. explorers link and Victorian eras, hence the cross postings. YouTube link

Why is this post on the Napleonic board? |
John the OFM | 24 May 2013 7:20 a.m. PST |
It's not, but it should be. |

Not 'Napoleonic' specifically (though TMP link ) but *19th c. scenarios*, and I suspect 19th C. wargaming is not restricted to Napoleonic times. Yet I confess it was a false move, and of course our Venerated Editor can remove this thread from the 19th C. scenario board to spare other delicate sensitivities. |

It should also be in Empire, for Tekumel: Empire of the Petal Throne. |

Certainly Naps appropriate because it begs the question, does the collar match the cuffs? You can't get more Napoleonic than that. |

What's wrong with 19th century? The fiction this stuff works best for was mostly written in the 18th, 19th and 20th. Lost civilization stories have been popular for a lot longer than that, but their boom period coincided with cheaper printing and inexpensive magazines and novels. |

Certainly Naps appropriate because it begs the question, does the collar match the cuffs? You can't get more Napoleonic than that. Personally, I'm more curious about whether the inhabitants of Tekumel represent gradual human evolution towards less body hair, or if the trapped, dimensionally-isolated colonists managed to retain efficient bikini waxing technology as their civilization collapsed. |

Early on they discovered a strategic stockpile of Nair. |

My question is why are they called the Legion of the Sapphire Kirtle when they are not wearing kirtles? |
altfritz | 24 May 2013 2:55 p.m. PST |
The name is an association with the Goddess Dilinála, whose temple sponsors the legion. |

re. the moulds. All of our moulds are now either "in country" or "en route" so everything will eventually be in production again. The only things constraining us are time and money. Perhaps we should do a kickstarter to fund the associated costs? Would there be any interest? Howard Fielding The Tekumel Project |

GREAT NEWS, Howard! For any 'Atlantis in Agartha' / 'Lovecraftian Mu' link / Not-Barsoom Cythera link . link . link . link The Tékumel minis are the obvious choice; then the Cavalcade Wargames Amazons of the Dragonblood Axibalan Empire link look quite good also -and they share the 'quasi-Aztec' look of some Empire of the Petal Throne figurines – but the range has only 3 different figurines and was not expended for years:
