Hi Guys,

I'm by all means no painter, but I decided to paint up one of my sculpts the other day as I damaged it whilst drilling a hole though the hands. So it gave me a chance to paint one up.

It's a WIP. Flesh needs work, and the hammer/axe/chain need to be properly painted.

I'm just looking for any HELPFUL hints and tips to make the painting better, or what you think on the painting?

Remember, I am not a professional painter or anything close to being one. I rarely paint things. For example I've painted less then 15 figures in the past 10 or so years, and some of those have been disasters! So don't expect amazing blending and so forth!

Here's the WIP:

Cheers :)

Remember, I am not a proper painter

What is a proper painter?

I just re-wrote it to explain what I meant :)

Remember, I am not a professional painter

That's OK, the vast majority of us aren't either!

Fair enough! Painting is something I wouldn't mind improving on as it would save me a lot of money as I get things painted for my website :)

I'd recommend searching TMP and the rest of the 'net for "Minwax Polyshades Magic Dip" or "Future Floor Wax Ink Wash". The method is straightforward, the results are stunning.

is that his skin color or are his arms that coated in blood? If blood, maybe a bit more skin color showing to give contrast to the red…just a suggestion.

Karl – They are long gloves :P

Cheers for the Magic Dip info Thosmoss!

Thanks Gavandjosh!
