A rather incomplete list. Also, there's at least one battle listed from the FIFTEENTH century!! |

Which battle from the fifteenth century? Towton, 1461. Not only that, but the figure quoted for the no. of dead at Towton is now widely disputed. |

Towton and Bannockburn are listed to compare death rates, and if you drill down to battles and wars by century you get a very complete list. I think it may be a useful resource, but some of the average figures – with convenient rounding of numbers sound less honest. |

Towton and Bannockburn are listed to compare death rates, Where does it say that? and if you drill down to battles and wars by century you get a very complete list. OK, so where do I find the casualty rates for Edgehill, Marston Moor and Naseby? I think it may be a useful resource, but some of the average figures – with convenient rounding of numbers sound less honest. Well if you can't trust the figure for Towton, can you trust any of the others? |
