As my current collection of 28mm ECW forces comes closer to being completed, i.e., all painted, flocked, sealed, and movement trays done; I am turning my eye to the more esoteric models that add spice to the look of the table. I have so far seen wagons and carts that would be suitable for 28mm but I do not seem to be able to find limbers for cannon of the period. Any suggestions and how about civilians for the ECW? Thanks |

I'm sure somebody on this list will have something suitable! link |

Foundry do civilians. The old Hinchliffe range has some superb guns, they do limbers as well. I'm sure Foundry do limbers as well. |

Maybe the Warfare Miniatures range would have suitable figures, even though they focus on the 1688 and later period. |

Most of my collection is Bicorne/Renegade/Redoubt and now I am adding Warlord. Foundry is going to be too small with these bigger 28mm figures (more like 30mm to tell the truth) I have a few of the foundry figures and believe me they are true 25mm figures and just do not fit. Fritz I will take a look at Warfare but I am not familiar with them. Old Glory might work hmmm

Ah! Just found that Bicorne makes a limber with four horses and a driver. Going to be expensive at $18.00 USD each plus overseas shipping. Rats! Old Glory did not have any limbers for the period that I could find. Anyone have better luck. Thanks, Kim |

Hinchliffe (now Ellerburn?) do a 'limber' that is correct – it is basically just a pair of wheels with shafts for one horse. The rest of the team were harnessed in pairs which had traces running back to the 'wheel' horse, which was usually the strongest horse in the team. Ammunition & gear travelled in a separate wagon. I think Minifigs may also have had one. |

Hey thanks for the information Fritz and bsrlee. Fritz, seeing the Warfare Minis pictures I found it amazing how simple the limbers are for the guns. Of course, this would have been well before "flying artillery," again, thanks for the information. Time to place some orders. I should add one reason I am looking for limbers other than being a completest is that there are a number of ECW scenarios were the guns are in transit and will arrive later in the battle, or the artillery train is the objective while in transit. |
