Second battle played this weekend with Andreas, we decided to change things up again and rewrite the lists. I said I was going to pick the Polish Skirmish 1656-60 force, Andreas kept to the Swedish Skirmish force of the previous battle.

As I didn't know how much Andreas was going to field I was cautious and kept my force to a medium size. Andreas pulled out the exact same list. The difference in points was now Swedish 7 to Polish 10!

Andreas rolled on the scenarios again, this time picking the "Foraging supplies", which was worth "2 FSP" for the weaker player. As an additional effect Andreas rolled "Unexpected reinforcements" which meant that any unit of his that was killed, could return as reinforcements.

The lists:

Andreas ran the Swedish detachment, again on 7 FSP.
His force contained:

1 Colonel with 3 command points
6 bases of musketeers
4 bases of reiters
2 bases of veteran reiters with arquebus
1 Regimental gun
1 special model – the Peasant informer)

My Polish 1656-60 skirmish force on 10 FSP contained:

Colonel 3 command points
Rota master 1 command point
3 bases of Pancerni with spears
3 bases Elite cossack style cavalry
6 bases cossack style cavalry
6 bases of Polish dragoons

A fun read as always.

You mentioned wound markers. How do those work?

I can't wait to get my rulebook, so I must resort to asking you about these things.

Yet once again, great report. Yes, looking forward to this one.

@drummer

Each base (except for commanders, artillery and a tiny few scout units) all have 3 wounds which need to be removed before it's lost.

The way it works is when a unit takes damage you apply wound markers to one base, once that base has taken 3 wounds it is removed, until then it will be carrying 1-2 wounds. Only one base per unit may carry wound markers so you can't distribute wounds across all bases in a unit.

A base with such reduced strength is less effective when fighting and shooting than bases with full health. It is possible to spend command points and try to "reform ranks" in which case 1 wound marker for each successful command roll is removed.

As you are often chronically low on command points as it is, reforming ranks is relatively rare unless you catch a break in the battle.

A similar situation is going on with the limited ammunition. Each unit has a fixed number of ammo points. Once those are spent they can't fire more during that game. However you may scavenge or redistribute ammunition between your men by once again spending order points (to regain a single ammo point). On division level, there are also ammunition wagons that can be attached to armies so that your units can re-arm themselves if they start to run low.

The more I read about this game, the harder it gets to wait for my rulebook and skirmish sets!
