The Pennsylvania Wargaming Militia (PaWM) will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary this Saturday, at the OFM's house.

I will be running my ever popular Wyoming Massacre game, whereby all the Slocums, Hollenbacks, Butlers (Yes! There was a GOOD Butler, on the Patriot side!), Denisons, etc not only have to survive, but actually have members of their retinue survive to vote for them in their post war political careers. Heroic deeds may have to be performed to ensure these votes. Carrying wounded will be a minimum requirement. BTW, Pennsylvania just had our Primary Election today.
All of these worthies have streets, parks, golf courses, Historical Monuments, etc named after them.
This is a change from my usual game in which survival is all that is needed.

The Loyalists and Indians will do their best to disrupt these plans.

The game will be TSATF, with minimal changes.

I will have a case of Susquehanna Brewing Company Sampler on ice. This is a brand new local craft beer brewery, of whom I have heard good things.

Don't ask me for an AAR. I may not be capable of it the next day.

Sorry John, but the title of your post just cracks me up… :)

I did not make that up…
We used to have an annual commemoration of the Massacre on the anniversary. THAT was the official title.
The whole shebang.
Reenactors reenacting a mile from the actual site, because it was now a church parking lot. Most of the Indians looked like Pyrates of ye Caribbaean.
Flea markets.
"Crafts". Bought the kids tomahawks.
I got an Osprey or two.

Is Rufus Bennett in your game? I knew a descendant of his.

darthfozzywig21 May 2013 9:39 p.m. PST

Hollenbacks

As in "Hollaback, y'all!"

Show up and play Saturday, and you can name your commander Rufus Bennett.
There are quite a few Bennett Streets in the area.

There was once a strip joint on Butler Street in Wilkes Barre. I once saw a drunken dancer hurl her pasties into the crowd, and the bartender had to bodily remove her from the stage.

The golf course is named after Hollenback.

I think the "better" re-enactors will be back there next July.

Eckhart has Rufus fleeing the ambush hanging onto the tail of Colonel Butler's horse. The woman I knew said the family lore was that Rufus was sleeping off a drunk when the Indians got him. I showed her the reference in Eckhart and she was mightily impressed.

But I won't be getting out to Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. Thanks for the invite.

Don't know what the locals do on an annual basis, but we might be doing a national event there in July 2014 again.

Great!
I haven't seen anything there for a while.

Can I be "San-dus-kee" otherwise known as "Like Little Boys"?

Of the Lackanookee tribe?

Or do I have to be Weeping Beaver?

Looking forward to Saturday's game. And the Craft Fair…

Sure, why not? Since you obviously want no part of Wyoming Valley politics post war… Bring your own Injuns though. My Cayugas do not, err…. participate in such activities. We leave that to the New England clans.

I heard it was your Nittany Indians that were responsible…

In any event, I've got enough First Nations for a couple of nations and more than enough to eat the heart out of any potential wannabe Governors…

Happy 10th Year Anniversary to PAWM!

This is always a good looking game John. We are glad Eric no longer plays down here, bad enough he sings his Pirate tunes down at Fort Mifflin. (You can tell he lives too close to the Nuclear Power Plant) :-)

As for Nittany Nation, We only get fired up during the Fall Harvest Season on the grid iron with the fire water they serve us.

Enjoy the game

Hey! I've never broken out in song during a game…

And if I don't play, it's because Game Day is always during Army time or something similar.
