How is their service – are they pretty quick or does it take some time? Not sure if they're 'print on demand' or if they produce a small stockpile like traditional casters.

Print on Demand, usually a couple weeks, upwards of 2 months.

Shapeways is basically Kinkos for 3D stuff. Anyone can post 3d models and make money from the system. It's like ordering a printed book from wargames vault. The author makes some cash and wargames vault makes some money and everyone is happy.

I have bought quite a few models from Shapeways, and really can't fault them in any way.

The longest I've had to wait has been about four nweeks, but that was for an entirely new model – "print" they call it – which had a few small adjustments which needed to be carried out so it would print properly.

All in all 10/10! :-)

I order some 15mm bits for making buildings from brigade models store on shapeways and got them in about a week and a half. I was satisfied with the quality and turn around.

I recently bought a bunch of 1/300 models from them and couldn't fault the service. I was told when things were happening and the package arrived sooner than I expected.
