I am putting together a small force for IRREGULAR WARS (not that there are any large forces). I am looking for 15mm miniatures to represent 16th century Huguenot Adventurers – Pirates, Privateers, Sailors, Explorers, and so on. In particular, the unit types are: Gentlemen Adventurers Volunteers (some sort of musket weapon) Halberdiers (just 6 or 8 of these) Boucaniers Cimaroons Militia Shot Ships Gun Thanks for any help you can provide. Really not familiar with miniature ranges for this period. |

They're fantastic. I wonder if anyone outside of Australia carries them? The shipping is prohibitive to say the least. |

Hi 00 JET 00 "Never mind the quality feel the width." Worth every penny :), you could try Eureka USA eurekaminusa.com to see if they'll get some in. Don't forget to mix in some Portuguese and Landsknechts for more variety. Hallmark from Magister Militum make great 15mm ships' guns link Cheers Vic (Grumpy) |

I have English and Iroquois "battles" for Irregular Wars and am in the process of painting up battles for Colonial Spanish, French Huguenot, Mississippi Mound Builders, Scots and Irish (modest project, eh?). Definitely Grumpy's for French Adventurers, also check the QRF Tudor Wars range, Black Hat renaissance ranges, UK Minifigs, Essex (although I am no fan of the style) etc. They are all very comparable in size, especially if you sand down some of the bases for bigger ones. If you don't have the Osprey on Elizabethan Sea Dogs, pick it up! Great plates and info. I just played a game of Irregular Wars and had a blast with them. Playing again at the club this Thursday. Email me lecoqfou at gmail dot com and I will send pictures and more assistance. |

Thanks for all the responses folks. I will check all of those manufacturers. Just checked out your blog PA. Very inspirational forces. I think I'll do something similar. I might actually go with the English Adventurers as well. One of my gaming buddies just ordered a bunch of Iroquois from Khurasan. :) |

Mixing Grumpy Portuguese and Landsknechts should work to give you a mix of gentlmanly type figures and poorer lackies. The only obvious problem (historically speaking) with mixing them is the 12 apostle bandoleers on the Portuguese shot figures which are (I believe) a 17th century development. I use mix the two ranges for my Hollanders and I think they look great. Your volunteers should be armed with a mix of shot and melee weapons – think of them the crew of a galleon or hastily assembled colonial militia. Grumpy do some great Cimaroons in their buccaneer range. |
