Deleted this because I accidentally cross-posted in the 18th century boards…

So again…anyone played DMH yet? Thoughts? How would it play with 4 – 6 per side? Read the WI article and the game looks great…very interested in people's opinions.

I would be interested to know as well, I purchased the rules and from reading them they do look fun, and looks like it could work for a club.

Would be interested to see it played out, do you let lurkers in to your games Sargent ?

SgtPrylo21 May 2013 2:00 p.m. PST

@G-Monkey: If you mean does our club allow people to watch games being played…no. We would force you to grab some figs and some dice and play!

I have been wondering that myself…

Some chaps at our local club played it, but went back to their home-grown set, so guess it didn't light their fire.

I looked at it at Salute. I came away with the impression that it was rather fiddly, with counters on the table next to figures. I gave it a pass.

I saw the counters thing in the WI article. I don't mind that if it helps me remember status without extra paperwork.

We at Angus Wargames Club put a demo game on at Carronade this year and got some very good feedback. As a club we found the rules easy to learn and, as we played more games, noticed that players began to get more tactical rather than just piling in and blasting away.
To redress the problem of the board getting cluttered, we made character cards, for each figure used, and placed these in front of the players to use with their initiative cards.
See pics on Angus Wargames club's and Great Escape Games' facebook pages.

Trog, do you play with more than 2 a side?

The Trog22 May 2013 7:06 a.m. PST

SgtPrylo, haven't done a multi-player game yet, but do have plans in the future.

CptKremmen25 May 2013 10:32 a.m. PST

We have played 3 games, all of them with 3 players per side. A total of 8-9 models per team. Each player controlling 2-3 figures.

No problems at all, played a dream.

We've played a fair few cowboy games and must say this is easily our favourite. Just the right balance of fun and easy to play with a little depth to the rules.

I do suspect with more experience and the wrong players you could start to powerplay it a bit, but afraid that is tru e with most of these level skirmish games.
