The usual nonsense. Armor thjat protects nothing but her modesty. Armor that will trap a blade rather than let it glance off. The crown has the same concept. An idiotically complicated weapon that will only wound and not kill. What are those wings on the blade supposed top do beyond keeping the blade from penetrating?. I guess we can excuse the elongated torso on the grounds that "She's an elf!" "But OFM! It's FANTASY! IT's not supposed to make sense!" Right. A nice ass and nice knockers do not excuse a dumb concept. |

A nice ass and nice knockers do not excuse a dumb concept Maybe not in FANTASY but in real life they go a long way in excusing all sorts of faults. |

I thought that was her frog-gigging outfit – clearly, based on that spearhead, she's going frog-gigging. Doug |

So this model is nonsence because it is fantasy? No one would fight dressed sort of like that in reality? How about this: Photo blocked by adult filter: "picture" What are those rings supposed to protect him from? Ridiculous. And that spear? Look at that thing! All the four points are going to do is prevent it from going the whole way through somebody. That model is clearly absurd too. No one would ever fight like that. |

(A nice ass and nice knockers do not excuse a dumb concept) And why didn't you tell me this before my first marriage? |

Lets' face it most Fantasy / Sci-Fi designs ARE dumb. For instance: - Giant spiders: given that the weight increases with the volume i.e. cube of the size while the resistance of the limbs increases only with their cross-section, i.e. the square of the size, the poor beasts would break their legs under their own weight. And anyway would die from asphyxia, the volume of tissue to be oxygenated increasing with the cube of the size and the carrying capacity of blood vessels and respiratory piping only with its square. This of course applies to *any* 'giant' creature oversized without heteromorphic deformation. - Dragons: even leaving aside the physical impossibility for such huge creatures to fly (again a matter of weight -cube of size- wings area -square of size), at least manticores ('Dragonslayer' & 'Reign of fire' movies, e.g.) are anatomically credible. But the 'traditional' dragon -a lizard with bat wings on its shoulders- is a totally silly design: the front limbs are across the powerful flight muscles (absent, what's more) attached to huge breastbone (equally absent). - Bipedal warwalkers: first, bipedal walk is a very, very complex process of permanently shifting weight (back and forth, left and right) to prevent falling. We are currently unable to build a bipedal walker, so VSF or WWII ones are pure fantasy. Then, the very idea to use at war a contraption so easily disabled (and once a leg is disabled, with its gun buried in the ground or pointing to the empty sky, hence far more useless than a tank having lost a track) is basically silly. To these the common reaction is 'Yes it's absolutely silly, but so kewl!'. Thus why to specially point out the -relative, not absolute- silliness of *this* design? Each of us has his / her own prejudices about in what fields 'willing suspension of disbelief' is easier or more difficult
And, any 'Napoleonic anorak fashion' debate about 'historical accuracy' aside, this is a very beautiful, anatomically correct and excellently sculpted figurine. Besides, she may be in 'Palace indoors guard' duty, and here practicability is not an issue:

Too bad she's in 54mm: in 28-30mm she would make a *great* princess to be escorted by Raging Heroes Fantasy Blood Vestals! Btw when did Elves got these silly 'Dr Spock' ears? Fées, the French equivalent of Elves were perfectly human, if stunningly beautiful. Any peculiarity (such as the periodical -menstrual?- shapechanging of Melusine's lower body) was carefully reported, nothing was ever mentioned about ears. Oberon and Titania have normal ears in pre raphaelite paintings. Norwegian Huldras often had a cow tail, their Finnish sisters that of a fox; cathedral gargoyles often had the bestial facial features of ancient satyrs: but these are totally different traditions. 'Modern' Elves just like Hobbits and Orcs are a Tolkienesque creation, but I don't remember in Tolkien any clear reference to such an obvious peculiarity (Elric on the other hand has slightly pointed ears)? So when did it begin? With Peter Pan -NOT an Elf- in the Disney assassination of Barrie's work? |
