Thank you, kind people! @billthe cat, indeed, creating one's own original contraptions IS one of the very best parts of our little hobby! As I've begun to move onto 15mm sic-fi, I am especially appreciative of companies like Rebel Miniatures that sell very handy conversion bits like their ready-to-go command cupola with optional weapons included: link Slap that lil' bad boy on top of a rectangular plastic Rhinestone and Bam!
