The SF and Fantasy Media boards (and presumably historical media boards, if they exist?) seem to be getting a lot of general traffic. What's the point of the Books, Movies and Broadcast Entertainment Plus Boards? Is it like the situation on the Modern Discussion board, which is nominally about wargaming related discussions but is in practise the Current Affairs board under a new name? When should I post about Doctor Who in Broadcast Entertainment, and when should I post in SF Media? |

I'm not trying to have a go at anyone, I should make clear. I'm genuinely wondering. I'm in the habit of "skipping to the end" of the main page to look for TV discussions in the Plus boards, only to find them popping up all over the place. :) |

The point was to separate out the non-wargaming content from the main boards. There were complaints about people posting stuff that wasn't wargaming related, like about a comedy movie or some weird thing that happened. So boards were created specifically for that. The problem was that there were no boards for posting something about a movie that didn't have a specific wargaming thing in it but could easily be wargamed. So, for example, I want to post about the Dredd movie, I don't have anything wargaming related to it, no Dredd figures, no game in mind. I just want to talk about the movie. It went in the movies Plus board. It was recognized that should probably also be in the sci-fi discussion board at some point. So it came to pass that new boards were created to handle discussions of things that were sort of related to minis, but not about wargaming. Make sense now? |

Some Maiden Aunts were offended to see discussions of "non-wargaming material", where they could actually SEE THEM!!!!! THE HORROR!!! So, because these frail creatures complained, Dear Editor set up an unpenetrateable Wall of Separation so you cannot corsspost between SciFi Media and Movies. Turn the damn Boards off if they offendeth thee, and stop annoying people who have a life. |

Yes, I get that. However, now the Fantasy and SF Media boards exist in the main message boards. Are they supposed to be restricted to "wargaming-related" discussion? Because they look like a bit of a free-for-all. |

No, that is the point. They are restricted to the discussion of Sci-fi or fantasy media. |

If the separation ever made sense, it makes less now. I am NOT defending the current situation, as should be fairly obvious. |

why the problem??? Seriously, the reason the Plus Board exists is just as Pictor and the OFM have stated. In the end it matters not and one just has to learn to skip over posts they do not wish to read. If a particular thread becomes too muddled I just pass on it. |

I'm not particularly bothered about wheter we talk about TV on the general boards of the Plus boards -the split always seemed daft to me anyway. It's the needless duplication that bugs me. For instance, why is "Theon Greyjoy – What is the point?" in Broadcast Entertainment TMP link but "I can't wait for next week's Game of Thrones!" in Fantasy Media TMP link ? |

It is a silly place. Let's not go there. 8)= |

AndrewGPaul, you nailed the silliness right on the head. It is also impossible to crosspost between the two Boards. Why? We had a Poll on it. |
