Regarding the Italeri's 1/72 plastic 95th Rifles figures (pictures can be found on plastic soldier review here: link ) Is the proportion of the two types of headgears (shako and the bonnet?/forage cap?) depicted in the set representative of real life, especially during the Peninsular War period? Also, how often did the 95th fought as formed infantry instead of as skirmishers? |

Is the proportion of the two types of headgears (shako and the bonnet?/forage cap?) depicted in the set representative of real life, especially during the Peninsular War period? From the site you linked: "A few of the men are wearing their forage cap (of a style first introduced in 1813), which is very unlikely during battle." Also, how often did the 95th fought as formed infantry instead of as skirmishers? Rarely, I suspect. |

TF58, Both battalions of 95th fought in close order (in the main) at Waterloo. Though as the Major with the unfortunate condition suggests rarely in the Peninsular campaign. DB |

In one of the Peninsular memoires a riflemen (it may have been Harris, I'm not sure) wrote along the lines of: For troops that fought habitually in skirmish order it was always good to see the solid lines of the 43rd and 52nd in support. Agree on Waterloo. |
