Several of these castle models appear to represent a castle built against the side of a cliff. Are there any real-life examples of such construction? |

Several of these castle models appear to represent a castle built against the side of a cliff. Are there any real-life examples of such construction? I think it's more common for a castle to be built at the top of a cliff rather than against a cliff – the risk would appear to be that attackers could gain the high ground above the castle. However, Predjama Castle in Slovenia would appear to be one real-life example:
