After nine months of inactivity, I finally got around to posting an update to my Texian Iliad blog. Today I review the first of several Texian sets:

I'm painting on those as well. One way to handle the uniform-style coats with turnbacks is to just paint the reverse lining the same color as the coat. Not sure of the practicalities involved, but gentlemen might pin back their tails just to minimize drag-in-the-mud, I suppose.

Marshall's book on Alamo uniforms shows five with tailed coats, at least 4 of them officers. Grey lined white (Travis); blue lined white (Sherman); blue lined grey (Wharton); brown lined white or light tan (Bryan); and blue lined white (Chambers). But it is questionable how many enlisted were similarly dressed. But I'm going with blue coats, mostly, and light-colored lining.

Doc,
I ended up painting some blue and some grey. Now I'm painting Mexican Cazadoras. You would think they would wear a fairly standard uniform, but there is evidence for variations:

My first company will look like the man on the far right; green faces, shako lace, and pompom, grey trousers, etc. Other companies will be varied. It's a handy way to tell them apart on the game table.

The green facings and nice uniforms will represent Permanente companies, while the red facings, white trousers will be Activos.

Yes, I got that plate from the Company and refer to it often.
