My skirmish gaming of the SYW period has heretofore been limited to the FIW in N. America. I'm thinking to expanding into the war in the Caribbean for this period. I'm wondering which if any, of my 18mm FIW figures could be utilized? I assume the British & French regulars & artillery crews. The Indians are obviously out, as are the Rangers. But what about British & Canadian militia? Settlers? French Marines? British light infantry & Highlanders? Provincials? I'm going to utilize Blue Moon's Africa range for local natives. Anyone have a suggestion for which of their Tribe packs would be the most suitable? I'm painting Blue Moon's European sailors & pirates. Any suggestions for Spanish figures & uniform guides? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Jerry |

I'd recommend getting a copy of Battle for Empire: The Very First World War by Tom Popcock. It deals with all the non-European aspects of the Seven Years War. During the assault on Havana in '62 (which has great gaming potential) you will find Provincials and Highlanders along with regular foot and marines. No suggestions for the Spanish, I game it in larger scale figures. |

There's an Osprey RAID #15 on the Havana campaign called A Far-Flung Gamble: Havana 1762 by David Greentree but it doesn't have much uniform information. This site covers alot but use it quickly as it's been shut down and is only available through the Wayback Machine app. link You can use French figures for the Spanish line troops: link Do you know about these two resources? link link And American Provincials were used too. In fact their deaths in Cuba, especially from disease, were a sore point that helped spark the American Revolution. |

21eRegt & Andy, Thanks! This info is most helpful. I didn't know about the sites you linked Andy. In all my years of gaming this is my first foray into the Caribbean for any period. Much appreciated guys. Jerry |
