I saw the anime series. They're influenced by the streamlined art deco cars of the art nouveau period. The AT-43 Karman vehicles also had the same aesthetic:

Nice miniatures! Although it's closer to Dieselpunk than Steampunk (yes, it's an actual term).

I saw that model in our local hobby store the other day… very tempting though I'm not sure I could do it justice.

I wonder how well a 25/28mm figure would go into those cockpits of that Vanship…

However, the soldiers on the capital ships fire steam muskets in line formation and have Napoleonic uniforms. The series is on Netflix. I love it.

I hadn't thought of this show in a while. Wasn't there a second series? At any rate, the minis are terrific!

Thanks, Armand!

Chris, at 1/72, you could probably fit a torso in, but little room for shoulders and arms. Very pulp, to me.

Buck would love, no?

A true 25mm or skinny 28 MIGHT squeeze in; the cockpits appear roomy.

Friend has had the DVDs forever, but it's been a long time since I watched. I'd forgotten the scooter. I can almost see hunting the great, white aero-cetacean.

*shrug* I'm a big boat guy, myself; wish there were models of the aeronefs.

Wiki entry for Last Exile suggests a second series with a short tie-in between, but no clue if either have been released in English.

The Leviathans game seems well influenced by this anime.

Last Exile is an excellent anime series. Highly recommended.

I'd love to get a bunch of the planes from that show and work up some stats for a game.

Love these kits, and love my Karmans as well.

The second series, Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing, can be viewed on the Funimation web site. Japanese subtitled in English.

It's not really a sequal.

Yes, there is. It'll be released in English in a couple more months.

There's a short tie-in story (manga), focusing on Claus, Lavie, and Alvis.

Despite the different focus, Last Exile: Fam *is* a sequel. Dio shows up, Alvis shows up, and even Tatiana and Alice show up. I stopped watching for a while, so I'm not sure where the heck Claus is.
