I know that Chile bought some of the Israeli ones converting a number with 60mm hyper velocity guns, but they were retired a few years ago and replaced with AMX30's and Leopard IA5's. Does any country still have some in service? |

link It seams most are replaced in the 90s

The article doesn't mention the Serbs. I know that in the late 90s during the air campaign against Serbia a bunch of old WW2 stuff, T-34s, M36s and M10s were encountered, maybe some Shermans as well. |

Argentina was still running Fireflies well into the 90s. I'm guessing they're retired now. |

Texas I think there are 10 of them being used as SUVs |

I was surprised to see Shermans in Bosna in 96. Not sure if anyone is still using them today. |

The Royal Thigh Army has some upgraded Super-Shermans still in service as of 2012. |

I thought the Royal Thigh Army were all "leg" infantry. All the best, John. |

I thought the Royal Thigh Army were all "leg" infantry. But they have Rockettes for artillery.

Yes, the M4 is likely still in service with some forestry companies in the US. One can sometimes find those vehicles for sale on the net. |

Yes, the M4 is likely still in service with some forestry companies in the US. What do they use the gun for? Shoot down the trees? Beats messing about with chain saws though. No what I had in mind with the orignal question was military service as a gun tank. |

Texas I think there are 10 of them being used as SUVs I thought SUV stood for Sports Utility Vehicle – in which case I can't really see a 30 ton tank as very sporty or utilitarian! :-) |

The Paraguayan Armoured forces are all Shermans. (Not many). We made our own tanks (Argentina)since many years ago. Amicalement Armand |

Looked it up: The last Argentine Fireflies were apparently replaced by TAM in the late 1990s. |

You are right Mark. They began to be in line in January 1990, I'm friend of one of the engineer who work there and I visit the fabric on those old days. A great tank. About the Shermans, I had the oportunity to see a War game in Paraguay with their First Army force and it was like a travel in time!. To see those old and nice Shermans maneuvering in the battlefield shooting, climbing, etc was superb! Amicalement Armand |
