Hello All,
I've just posted a (rather longer than I intended) review of Battle Honours BSP3 Infantry Defending on my blog: link

In summary – lovely figures, lousy packaging…

Thanks for that.

Nice review, I like BH figs and they make up a large portion of my Napoleonic armies.

I always got a kick out of the "smoking guy" pose. I would try to group them together as the "we're taking a siesta" battalion.

Malc,
You are correct on placing a shim under the BA Spanish to match up with the AB Spanish.

I need to do the same with my 1806 French. I'm using the Old Guard Grenadiers in greatcoats for line grenadiers and they're a little shorter than the bicorne line infantry in greatcoats.

Good review though and you can tell that they are both Barton sculpts.

Von Blucher,
It's a shame about the scale creep – but both the BH and AB ranges are very nice figures in their own right. And the BH are 30p each, so less than half the price of AB (even with their recent price reduction) – for that saving I think you can overlook the weird packaging that is likely to result in unwanted figures.

I think that they will be formed into separate battalions – but will get the odd AB officer to serve in their ranks.

I do like the bicorne French – I'm surprised that more people don't build early war French armies, after all, this was when the French were carrying all before them (and you can skip some of that fiddly shako detail!).

From memory, the AB Spanish range was updated a couple of years ago and the figures are now slightly larger. Prior to that, it was virtually the same as the BH range as Tony Barton was making them when BH was sold from under him and he had to restart as AB.

There is a similar issue with the AB French range as it was one of the first he did as AB, and the greatcoat figures were added some time later – hence, in terms of hieght and "build" the original AB French range is slightly, er…..slighter.

Supercilious,
The AB French in greatcoats are quite stocky. The Campaign Game Miniatures French in greatcoats actually look slimmer (but otherwise a good fit) whereas they are usually quite chunky in comparison (think First Rank and Perry) to AB.

Yes, the shako and bicorne figures in greatcoats were done around the same time as the AB Bavarians and Saxons (which they match in size), whereas the original French range was first up when AB started, alongside the Austrians and the Peninsula British – which are also mostly quite "slight" next to more recent AB products.

Has anyone any suggestions for how to make a command stand for Battle Honours 15mm Catalonian Lt infantry (BSP5) who come with no command stand – other 15mm ranges that have Tarleton wearing infantry perhaps
