I am just being curious-is it ok to "haggle"(or "bartering",if you prefer) with someone,or is it generally considered that you will pay what the seller is asking.Obviously, this could be occuring in PM's,as I dont recall ever seeing it.I myself have never done this there. |

Well, an out an out public discussion would be "tres outre" as they say in Greece, but otherwise
there's nothing wrong with coming up with a reasonable counter-offer via PM or Email. |

Thank you,John.I am considering such a move,as I have a few things I'd like to sell, and I'd like to move beyond the HMGS fleamarkets(which can be ruthless in "lowballing"). |

Haggling is OK everywhere (well, maybe not a supermarket in Germany) – certainly OK in the Marketplace! |

I usually only post stuff I really want to get rid of. I'd rather someone offer me a lesser amount and I can shift it than sit on it for the site acceptable time and repost later with a price reduction hoping I found the market price. That said – I tend to see the only ones haggling are looking to get stuff at well below what the average person would sell for. For example; I was looking to sell a lot of 28mm metal figures that retailed for $50. USD They were being sold on ebay used for around 40ish. I posted here for $35 USD The only counter offer I got was for $15 USD – shipping included. When I said I was looking for a bit more they offered a couple minis that was nowhere near close to what I said I was looking for in trade. Then they ignored my followup offer and never responded back. |

I've got no issues with haggling. Either as a buyer or seller

I only do it via PMs. Often if I am interested in an item and do not think I want to pay the offered price I will PM with an alternative if they are interested and not gotten the asking price. But only via PM. I did one time tell someone the item they were selling was available commercially for way less and was not out of print. Got all kinds of grief for that one from the TMP purists.
