I recently got a lot of 15mm WWII vehicles/infantry and was pondering what rules to use. As the most popular miniatures rules used here are Epic Armageddon, I was wondering are there were any rules for WWII similar? We really like the 'blast marker' concept. Someone said 'Spearhead' had this but I can't confirm this. Alternate unit activation possible was also good point.
I don't want Igo-Ugo or the FWC/BKC equivalent or a skirmish game with individually based infantry or single base activation.
So, has someone already done a variant of EA rules for WWII or know of some rules like I've described? I know I can just play IG vs IG, but I really need something more topic specific.
Thank you. |

Here is a link to a conversion set of Epic Armageddon for WW2. link It is not too extensive, but might be a useful starting point. |

I've actually been working on these too myself, but just started thinking that maybe my favourite rule set Hail Caesar / Black Powder might be even better. Blitzkrieg Commander doesn't do it for me, and it's not Black Powder, it's Warmaster. Still, maybe WW2 Black Powder and Epic Armageddon could work for different command levels. Epic works so that you have a platoon as a "unit" composed of multiple team bases (ala FoW) whereas BP could work so that a single unit is a squad or team. Maybe I could post my WIP stuff somewhere in case you're interested, my 2-page rules additions and the almost complete german force list. |

Zelekendel, I would be interested in your rules and ideas. |

link link Still WIP, but you can see the idea. Troop quality in the platoon will determine the initiative as well as the morale save for the units.
Plus now that I mentioned it, here's my musings on WW2 Black Powder: link |

Interesting ideas on WW2 BP/HC. As mentioned in the BP Forum I had thought of BP for early WWI but not for WW2. |

Thanks for the info. Looks good. I'm more interested in the Epic scale as thats what's played here so much already and would be easier to get other club members into. A group in NZ have successfully adapted Epic A into a set of modern rules, but despite numerous requests, hasn't released them to the wargames community. Still, I take heart that SOMEONE can do it! |

Zelekendel – What sort of level are you pitching these at? 1 model = ? I don't like BKC 'troll tanks'- regenerating hitsand coming back to full effectiveness every turn. |

Epic? Well, my initial thinking is roughly 1=1 like FoW, as it'd be pitched to FoW players. A platoon is the smallest maneuver element in Epic. In BP WW2 the scale is the same, but the smallest maneuver unit is a squad here, but if anyone knows BP / HC, platoons (brigades / divisions) stick together and are often commanded together. I don't like troll tanks either. One of the main reasons I don't really like BKC as a system. |
