Anyone have the AWI variant for On to Richmond handy? I've e-mailed Don Perrin but thought I'd ask here. I'd like to include it in the new OTR edition…PM me here or mark@scalecreep.com

Didn't know there was one. Are you going to publish OTR?

Dan Cyr16 May 2013 1:27 p.m. PST

You've got the Napoleonic and Franco-Prussian War variants, right?

There were more than one AWI varient that popped up in magazines. Which one are you thinking of?

I take it you have permission. Have you been in contact with Paul Koch? Or was it the Courier that had the rights? I think one AWI version was in the Courier.

The rights to OTR are owned by The Courier. I have obtained permission to release them in a new edition. I am i contact with Paul Koch the original author.

I only recently learned such a variant exists, so if there are multiple, I'm looking for one/any published in the Courier.

Doesn't Wargames Vault have the old Couriers in pdf?

vtsaogames16 May 2013 6:58 p.m. PST

I don't have every copy of the Courier, but I do have a lot. I recall a Franco-Prussian variant and a Crimean variant, but no AWI variant. If you decide to do one, I'd tone down the artillery. Actually, the Franco-Prussian was a cousin of OTR rater than a variant.

OTR is brigade level isn't it? AWI battles are a little small for that unit level.

Now, when will someone bring out Don Lowry's "Grand Armee" rules (smile)?

I seem to recall the AWI variant. Alas I sold off my Couriers a few years back.

In the booklet, there are some modifications for the FPW and the Napoleonic Wars. I've never heard of the AWI variant. That does not mean it doesn't exist though!

I had a home rules AWI version set at the regimental level. I called them "On to Philadelphia" and they were published in MWAN 102. Perhaps that is what you're thinking of.

Well then. The mag is at Wargame Vault.

I have a copy of grand armee and worked on a Seven Yers War version of OTR back in the day.

I found the On to Philadelphia rules at the link above. Wondering if they would work for War of 1812?
