You know the ones I mean
link rebelminis.com/15mo9bi.html Got pics of the paint scheme you used on them? Do you have any suggestions? And, have you made any alterations/conversions with your Model 9s? If so, what? Thanks, Dan TMP link TMP link |

Yeah, I painted up 2 packs of them. I have a 3rd yet to do. I went with a gray scheme. No conversions. I thought of them as urban combat troops. Thanks, John |

I painted mine as well, and similar to what's in the above pic
I'm hoping for some additional releases for these. I'd actually like to see their assault rifle used for Planetary Defense force type troops as well

I never got around to painting mine up. But I did swap the heads out with the ones GZG sells, and really liked the results. |

Those are good looking. Are they intended to be 7' tall as per the 18mm? I like'um :) |

28mmMan, I've been looking for a comparison pic for you. Still looking. Dan PS. I wonder if these could be used to somehow extend the look of the helmet a bit more on the back of their skulls: TMP link |

I really like the proportions body-wise. Helmet-wise, I'm thinking of extending the back a little. Perhaps like this example here:
link Thoughts? Dan PS. I know it almost looks like helmets from GZG New Israeli, though not quite. |

28mm Man, I designed and commissioned these in mind way back in 2006 to be 1/100th scale, proportioned to be 7 to 7 1/2 heads tall. Despite my good intentions, or perhaps because of them, they went over like a lead balloon. So, Mike had me come up with the "things are slightly off" bio-printed-trooper back story, to explain their different look. Jeff Racel helped polish my quickly-whipped-up screed. They were sculpted by the lovely Angie Portman. I am thrilled when people find them to their liking. Best, JBR |

JBR, I, for one, absolutely love them!!! Dan |

JBR, I too love them, although I think they'd be even better with additional options such as heavy weapons and command units. :) |

And I say you paint them a different (alien) skin tone, and voila! Instant humanoid Sepoys of the Terran Empire, just add a human officer! Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |

I do find it interesting that – if ever there was a justification for tall and thin humanoids as opposed to 'regular' humanoids (whatever they are*) or slightly shorter, chunkier ones – then SF is it, surely? Planets with slightly greater than 1G for the shorter stockier types. Slightly less than 1G for the taller, thinner ones
science fiction is replete with examples of this kind of thing. And yet – as figure manufactures have found – there is a remarkable lack of 'flexibility' found in many gamers' minds when dealing with this. Just ignoring what we find right here on planet earth (some tribes with an average male height of 1.9m [6ft 4in] and some with an average low height of 1.45m-see here link ) what are people's real issues with figures of different heights and builds in an SF environment? Just as Leland said, there has to be some manouvre room here, surely? Especially as – being SF – the weaponry they are carrying is probably not consistent. I mean, in the real world, you can point to a weapon on two different figures and say "those figures are both meant to be carrying [say] AK47s and they are obviously inconsistent". But that hardly applies here. I'm interested in everyon elses point of view though: I've heard a bit of slagging off of some ranges recently for being a little chunky in appearance and now this one has raised the issue of the other 'extreme' (and – at 1.8m in a helmet – they ain't that extreme!). What does every one else think? John T * Like gamers are all a perfect shape

I totally agree with you John. Even among the folks on earth there is a wide margin of change. I tend to think on the table top any "inconsistencies" are easy to over-look, at least to my eye. |
TheRatGod | 21 Jun 2013 11:11 a.m. PST |
i would love an army to be made as such..where all the basic troops had the same basic gear and weaponry, etc. But in the different sculpts they were different sizes, different sex. not just a different pose, but an actual honest to god real looking scifi army
unless everyone in the future is forced to be the exact same thru genetic altering or something :P |
Cacique Caribe | 21 Jun 2013 5:05 p.m. PST |
I agree. Genetic engineering, gravity and many other factors can explain variations. But, in my opinion, they look fantastic, no matter if they represent regular humans or humans with an altered anatomy. They look great! Dan PS. And, as for my question about elongating the back of the helmets, it's not that they need to be converted in any way. I just happen want to see what they would look like with helmets of that sort. |
