No, not a quaint old Dorset expletive one utters on tripping over a stalking poacher when taking a short cut home across the fields
I'm actually drumming up stifles
Gazzola has been King of the Stifles for far too long now
I just need 41 of you to find me sufficiently odious to stifle and once again my old mother's prophesy as she lay on her deathbed that one day I'd amount to something will come true
. If the thought of missing out on my wit and wisdom concerns you, – understandable of course – it needn't be for too long
but you may find you can live without my wordy opinions on, well, just about anything, in which case we're both up! Ta! |

Nah. Sorry, mate. You can't get me to Stifle you that way
Even when I don't always agree with you, I don't stifle as a rule
Blame John The OFM for that. Eric |
| Sparker | 15 May 2013 7:32 p.m. PST |
Damn! Very well – just to stiffen your resolve as your finger wavers on that stifle button, let me share some of my creed with you: 1. I like Flame of War and think they're a damn fine ruleset that elegantly provides an authentic WW2 Company level outcome; 2. I have read Wellington's Waterloo Despatch and therefore treat all suggestions that he tried to steal Blucher's thunder as half-baked, under researched, pot-smoking, tall poppy, anti-British tosh; 3. I don't believe that Napoleonic rules need to be complicated and involve complex charts, flow diagrams and multiple die rolls to provide a realistic outcome. 4. I have absolutely no interest in Association Football, Baseball, Basketball or indeed any popular sport apart from Rugby Union and Clay Target Shooting, and in any case, call me a bluff old traditionalist if you will, believe that discussion of said pursuits should not be conducted on a wargaming forum
There you go, do the dirty deed! |
John the OFM | 15 May 2013 7:33 p.m. PST |
Well, I'll give you one now, but in the remote possibility you might have something interesting to say in the future, I might have to remove it. Here you go. No, no thanks necessary. I am sure you would do the same for me. enjoy it. |

Sparker
you've been a gray box to me for some time. Can someone "stifle" someone MORE than once? NO? Damn! Sorry.
|
| Woolshed Wargamer | 15 May 2013 8:14 p.m. PST |
You would have to write something pretty odious for me to stifle you, and I believe in free speech so don't care what you write. Good luck on your quest though. |
| darthfozzywig | 15 May 2013 8:16 p.m. PST |
You have to ask/beg for them? I seem to pick them up for completely innocuous or benign posts. You're not trying hard enough. |
| SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER | 15 May 2013 8:18 p.m. PST |
Dude delete quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Making fun of names is Dawghousable! You have 20 minutes. |

Maybe you should post something without spaces in the first sentence or two. I usually stifle for that, as I read TMP on my phones tiny screen and lack of spaces makes my smart browser freak out. |
John the OFM | 15 May 2013 8:38 p.m. PST |
I would suggest that you abuse an apostrophe, but I have already stifled you. |
| Zephyr1 | 15 May 2013 8:41 p.m. PST |
You are going about this in the wrong way. To get as many as you can/want, you have to post some utterly drivelly comment on a board that takes itself too seriously. e.g. start a topic on the Crossdressing Napoleonic Midgets board and make a smart aleck remark about how the buttons on Velcro pantaloons actually belong on the opposite side other than where they are historically depicted. Something like that usually throws the old grognards into a frothing tizzy

Try politics or religion. Works wonders for stifle collection purposes, especially if you have strong opinions. |

Just to show you how silly stifle is
NYAH NYAH NA NYAH NA, I ain't stifling you.

You have to ask/beg for them? I seem to pick them up for completely innocuous or benign posts. You're not trying hard enough. How do you know if someone in particular stifled you (or is it anonymous) and for that matter, what post it was for? |
| badwargamer | 16 May 2013 1:55 a.m. PST |
Brian, you don't, it is annonymous. However, I assume if you don't post often or post something slightly 'dodgy' and if you also bother to check how many stifles you have, then you may get an idea which posts have caused the stifle! You won;t know who stifeld you of course. Sparker, I won't stifle you as I dont recall having read anything from you that is particularly obnoxious, in fact I think I recognise someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously and uses irony and 'tongue in cheek' humour. You also don't seem to say it's fine to have different opinions then always argue with someone. You also don't always seem to have to have the last word on a thread. For those reasons and for the fact that you are trying to beat what must be a mowing target, you are doomed to fail! Although you can apparently setup a second account to stifle someone, so I might do that as I think that doesn't break the rules :-) |

daily, in fact.

| Rrobbyrobot | 16 May 2013 9:01 a.m. PST |
I've never found you to be offensive enough to 'earn' a stifle. You don't seem to do stupid. |
| kallman | 16 May 2013 10:30 a.m. PST |
Currently I have only one person I have ever stifled on TMP and it was because they were extremely offensive and not interested in engaging in any kind of meaningful concourse. That person has long since been banned from TMP so as you can see I have a very high tolerance. I figure that even a broken clock is right twice a day. Therefore, as a rule I do not stifle. If I find your posts abhorrent, poorly written, moronic, unintelligible, etcetera, then I just pass on them. |
Herkybird | 16 May 2013 2:17 p.m. PST |
I would only stifle someone who REALLY deserved it, you are too nice to do it to! |
