So, what do you think? Testshot of my fire and smoke. I feel just drybrushing it on doesn't cut it, the flames should be inside, not on the outside.
Model is 1/300 scale. My Blog: link |

Looks very effective..Looks like a burning tank to me. If you Picture search burning tank they look very much like that..and sometimes with a lot of flames outside. What did you make it from? |

Don't worry, I don't stiffle, I believe in an open discussion and your argument is quite sound. Heck, I ask the question for a reason so if you think something is wrong I'd like to hear about it :) It is not as billowing as it should/could be as I want to keep them practical as well. Either a thin or a thick column of smoke won't make a difference at the distances you look at em on the table, it stands out either way. But you are right, to be realistic, it should be a bit thicker. I have done a Opel Blitz that way that I want to paint in the next few weeks, you might like that more. @Paul; just clump foliage superglued to a brass wire that I pinned into the tank, the same way I, and many others, make explosion markers. Clump foliage is your swiss army knife of foliage types if you ask me. |

Looks great to me and has given me ideas for the next smoke and flame markers I make! |

I'm with Ditto about the smoke effect but I hasten to add that if this is at 1:300 then it just doesn't matter, I shrunk the picture down to about 10mm equivalent and it looked the business. The texture seems perfect for an explosion though, would love to see what you could do with that. Great work, very impressive. regards dave |

I really like the color and texture, the center indeed seem a lot hotter than the rest! One detail is bothering me, though: The shape. I have never seen a real tank burn (and hope never to
) but I think that the column should be very straight up right out of the tank, because the heat is blowing air out, but then curve in the wind more and more as it cools down. Still, Very nice job! |

I think it looks great, not sure about comments about it should look like this or that tbh. |

Looks good to me. I think part of the comment of the "thin" smoke plume is that if the tank really brewed up, there would be smoke coming out of every crack. However, the model gets the point across and looks quite nice as is. |
