This weekend I will be in Columbus Ohio for soccer.

What is in the area that I want to make sure and see?

Thanks to all who responded to my Toledo thread last week. My son and I went to Ft Miegs and had a good time.

Downtown on the river an exact copy of the Santa Maria. Eat at Thurmans one of Guy Fietis favorite places. A couple of still operating and used in ACW reenactments ACW field pieces on the Statehouse lawn. Scmidts Sausage house has great sausage called the Bahama Mama. German Village has some nice turn of the century houses. A book store in German Village that has about sixty rooms. All of this is Downtown. Take a walk around Ohio State and see the largest single campus in the U.S. Columbus Commons usually has some type of concert going on Saturday night.

As far as game stores go, The Guardtower on Trabue Rd. is one of the better ones I have been to in my life.

Second the Santa Maria…. particularly this weekend. This weekend there will be upwards of 40 reenactors (and some not as strictly historical portayists) doing a pirate weekend. If you can try and be there near to 2:00 PM on Saturday or Sunday, there will be mock battles involving muskets, canons etc. If you stop by ask for me, I am one of the event organizers.

If you like books, there is a Half Price bookstore or two in the Columbus area. I hit the one on Brice Road once in a while.

Stay out of the strip clubs. Really.
