"Solomon produced the 2000 film version of "Dungeons and Dragons" and is reportedly working with Warner Bros. on another film based on the board game Chainmail." The fact this is the guy responsible for the idiocy that was the first D&D movie makes me root for Hasbro. |

There's a chainmail boardgame ? |

Could they do a Dragons & Dungeons film instead After all – we're just talking a generic fantasy movie. Call it something else. |

No, it's all about the license. It's ALWAYS about the license. |

Considering how bad the last one was I'm not sure this is much of a loss if it doesn't get made. |

If they have to make a fantasy movie, what's wrong with (for example) David Eddings? Instead, we're getting a reboot of a movie based on a tabletop RPG, based in turn on a mélange of fantasy tropes culled from Tolkien, Vance, et al. There are heaps of novels by a small army of writers which could readily be adapted for the screen, but instead we'll take the remake, please. Ron |

Personally, I'd like to see Universal do it over Warner
 |

Well – since John Carter apparently had little audience recognition (i.e. no-one had heard of the books, games, comics, wargame figures,
) it's likely that a lot of cheap to buy book rights will struggle to find a ready audience. D&D is at least a "well known brand". |

DnD will have a cult following of people who will watch it and buy the DVD. Others wont. Now if that Peter Jackson guy isnt busy right now he could make a fantasy movie from a small writer and I think it could be a success. |

Can't they just license Pathfinder instead? (Pure snarkistry here
) |

> DnD will have a cult following of people who will watch it and buy the DVD Maybe, but that didn't help the last movie to use the name. I doubt it managed to break even much less turn a profit. Then again Hollywood made a movie called "Battleship". |

There's probably a draft for "Oreo, The Movie" on some producer's coke-dusted desk as we speak. |

Has anyone written an expose on the use of lobotomies in the motion picture industry? Rob |

Find a good writer, and it will be a good movie. I'm available. |
