Hi guys, sorry about the crap pics, here are my WIP Death Riders, the original figures were Napoleonic Wurtembergers, I wanted them to have czapkas (hats) so gave them head swaps with some surplus Polish infantry, the lances without fanions will have paper fanions added, any ideas on how to paint the horses? I want them to look a little creepy and unnatural, as they are hairless bio engineered organisms.

Avoiding any of the usual colour combinations associated with existing horse breeds should do the trick. Especially if you go for blues, oranges, reds etc. and/or go for tiger stripes striking patterning.

My two cents: Jason O Mahony's words are words of wisdom. They coincidentally solve a similar problem for me…
EDIT: Another two cents, those look awesome. I like the style way more than anything GW has on offer for their human cavalry

What about painting the horses is a pale human flesh colour? That would be kinda creepy and wrong at fist look.

Lovely work. You have an amazing talent for converting your armies.

I was thinking pale human flesh with some blue and red veining.

Thanks for the input guys, I've decided to go with the flesh hairless mole rat look, with some purplish washes, and I will try some blue veins as well.
