I'm taking a wild guess that it wants to say "הכרזת העצמאות" which translates to "Declaration of Independence." |

Ya right. I couldn't figure why I was having trouble reading it. Now I know. |

But Hebrew is read right to left, isn't it? So is the banner correct for Hebrew, or did he flip the Hebrew to make the order correct if transliterated into English letters and attempted to be pronounced by a speaker of English? (for example, "David" as opposed to "divaD". The latter would be the change into the Latin alphabet, but with the Hebrew order intact
okay, I'm starting to confuse even myself.) |

Parzival, the English equivalent would be ECNEDNEPEDNI FO NOITARALCED Older Latin-language software ( Win95-ish ) won't know to order Hebrew right-to-left and will often display it backwards, so it's a common occurrence. I've never seen it done deliberately. |

Is it? And no one noticed for two years? Apparently Photoshop has the same problem with word order. I'll have to fix that. Wyatt |

Wyatt, In fairness to you, the OP has only been here since Dec. 2012 so he hasn't seen it before now. BWW |

Hebrew has a different word order then English. Hebrew is Verb, Subject, Object the modifier of a noun, Adjective usually follows the noun that is beeing modified. The words are placed as if they are read from left to right on the banner though. Hebrew is read right to left. God Bless you |
starkadder | 15 May 2013 1:58 a.m. PST |
Shouldn't that be "Bless you, God"? |

No harm no foul. I'm just pleased there's one insignificant detail of accuracy I can contribute to on TMP. BRB gonna go mark the date in my diary. |
