I am in need of a program either on-line on something that I can download that will draw true ovals in inches. I have a friend who makes wooden basket bottoms for weavers and he gets requests for true ovals and we have both been unsuccessful at drawing them with 2 nails and a string.

So I need something that I can put the dimension into that will draw it at 100% and then be printable so that I can cut him out a template to use when drawing the shape on the wood. any suggestions?

Sketchup works. However you need to draw a circle and squish it.

Inkscape is good as well. That will let you draw an oval but it doesn't have dimensions to it so you have to convert it from pixels. You can't just say draw me a 2" by 5" oval.

The drawing program in Open Office should be able to do that.

Coreldraw does it automatically….

Most drawing programs should have it as a standard option.

Powerpoint?

In any decent vector based drawing program you can create precise ovals in seconds.

MS Word can do that.

You can then rescale to elongate them, or make them fatter, as desired.

Word, Powerpoint, or Excel can all do it.
Photoshop, Paint ship, Gimp, they can all do it is as well.
