Very nice! How are you doing the stats on the freighters? Doug |

I haven't gotten that far yet. Figure when I can afford to order the stands, then I'll do up stats. |

Wow, you got the bug bad, man! |

They're apparently from the ERTL Rebel Base kit, which (dagnabbit) I don't have (I do have several of the Hoth kits somewhere, though). They're 1/156, so basically 10mm, but the freighters are pretty scale agnostic. Doug |

Stats will basically be a boatload of Hull, maybe a few Shields, no guns. You need a fighter escort to fend off unwanted boarding craft. Note that the upcoming HWK-290 and TIE Bomber each had boarding craft variants. And I've got a couple of the DX-9's from Topo at Shapeways. Yup, as mentioned in the blog post, they're from the AMT/ERTL Rebel Base Diorama. The figures that came in the kit are 10mm. The transport is 24cm long; at 1/270 = 64.8m. Scouting online, I've seen the GR-45 listed at 60m long. The [crappy] X-Wing models in that kit make a very nice base for converting into Z-95's. I should put up a progress report soon on my corporate/pirate squadron of those in the works. The first 8 ships, 2 flights, just need their canopies now, Ill work on that this evening. Then there will be a flight of 4 heavies. And 2 Clone Headhunters for the commanders. link The Falcons from the kit are just a bit smaller than the FFG one. I'm slicing and splicing mine into a variety of Corellian Engineering light freighters. I'm just about done cutting the first one into pieces to reassemble as a Nova Drive 3-Z, that will look something like this: link The alleged Y-Wings from the kit are barely recognisable as such. I think I'll take my stack of those and kitbash them into custom tiny transport vans/tugs and boarding craft. |

So, I was just poking about various corners of the basement and office closet looking for bits-boxes for some particularly useful bits for the Falcon conversions. I've also started slicing the 2nd one to turn it into a YT-1200.. And to my great surprise, I found a baggie with a 5th Transport and 5th Falcon!!! And 2 boxes of AMT/ERTL Droid Fighters, 3 per box, from way back when too that had never been asssembled or kitbashed for service in games. Hmm, maybe these parts can be kitbashed with the alleged Y-Wings for custom ships that will still look quite Star-Warsy ^,^ |
