We had our usual rewarding weekend meeting the general public in The Centre, Milton Keynes at the weekend, courtesy of the MKWS club.

I took along the Society of Ancients Shows North stand, and our popular 54mm Bosworth DBA game.

I also set up the Naseby game I will be using at next month's Family Fun Day as a promotion for the event …

I thought there was a really good mix of historical displays (games, reenactors, stalls, books, societies) this year, and plenty of engagement for all the family.

I was there on the Saturday and thought it was good this year. My in-laws live in MK so the wife and kids get to visit her mum while I get 'Hobby time'. Not the biggest show around but always something interesting to see and a few traders to get some goodies from I enjoy it.

How on earth did I manage to miss you throughout a whole weekend?
I was there in the 15mm ancients tournament.

Answers on a postcard, hey, Tamsin wink ('you got a luck break' … 'we saw you coming' etc.) …

Seriously, though, we were opposite John Lewis on the Costa side, right by the ECW reenactors (Rupert's Regt.). Several SoA members came over to say hello, but there were a lot of players I'd normally expect to bump into, who I'm sure were likely there (I think the games programme plus the competition with shoppers for vital resources kept many of you busy for long periods).

That's fine at MK, since for us, Campaign is more about presenting wargaming and military hobbies to the general audience than preaching to the converted (or 'fellow travellers' at least) ..

Still, sorry we missed you – hope you did well in the games …

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. I've not done this show myself although it is technically within striking distance of my home…mmm maybe next year.

I attended both days in a viewer capacity this year. Thoroughly enjoyed the show. I spent more than usual, both with the traders and at the B&B.
I got some good advice in discussions with the DBMM gamers who share knowledge if asked at the right time, i.e. not during the game!

Phil – that's really weird. Saturday lunchtime I was chatting to a fellow blogger who was one of Rupert's Blews, so I'm shocked I missed the SOA stall and yourself. Mind you it was approaching start time for the second match and I was desperate to get to the loo.

I did much better than last year – 2 wins and 3 losses (only 2 of those were routs!) compared to 5 losses (4 routs).
