My Cossacks made their debut a few weeks in a MW battle. Fun list, but they did not get to do much. I did enjoy painting them. well, we have a LW scenario coming up in 2vweeks. It's not one that they will be very useful in, but I glanced in Red Bear to see how they looked. Coincidentally, my Peter Pig Cossacks FINALLY arrived from Brookhurst today also.) Nice big Fake Russian name for Guard Cossack Regiment. There is a quarter page showing the Tachankas in action, with a description of their use in the war. Then, there is a nice paragraph giving them their special rules. However
In reading over the "Gvardeyskiyi Kazachiy Polk" list, there are no Tachankas! Nor are they in the arsenal! Is there a correction for this somewhere? |

They are not in the Army Lists for Late War. That is what I am moaning about. The Late War book has them pictured, a narrative, and the Special rule™. BUT THEY ARE NOT IN THE LISTS!!! They ARE in the Mid War Eastern Front book. I have the BF ones, and just got my Peter Pig ones. |

I know
It's a clever ploy to make me buy the "new" updated V3 book. |

They were included in the late war Cossack pdf, as an optional platoon for each mounted company
|
John the OFM | 13 May 2013 7:19 p.m. PST |
They could have put them in the damn book
 Link? |

The file is rather large for me to e-mail but is called "GvardeyskiyKazachiyPolk.pdf". I don't think that it would still be on the BF website, but you may be able to find it elsewhere

Thanks! I found them in a pdf on line. Then, with that clue I finally found them in the book, as a greyed-out option for a mounted company. FALSE ALARM!!! |

Averted for today maybe, but what new travails for tomorrow? |

Tomorrow Pinky, we conquer the world. (in a tachanka) |

I find it interesting that the concept is still used today …

wouldnt bother. Get them off the wagons as they are more useful that way.Moving HMG teams have same rate of fire but 6" greater range and only move 2" less |

I suppose you would tell a Seleucid player to not use scythed chariots also. |

John, have you considered I might have been taking a dig at the rules rather than at the OP (you)? Dont get me wrong, I like FoW but this was the one change in V3 that really irked me As to the scythed chariot
I would tell everybody not to take them as I do not own a Seleucid army and I find them to be a pain in the kneecap |

My understanding is that they were not dismounted – but raced up and wheeled around to deliver a burst and then trundled off at high speed in the oppostite direction before fire was returned
. Lyrics of a RCW Tachanka song poached off Wiki And to this day, the foe has nightmares Of the thick rain of lead, The battle-chariot And the young machine gunner.

Wierd as an opponent of mine that plays Seleucids doesn't have any scythed chariots, only crap loads of cataphracts and phalanx. |

I tried using the old " But Tachankas were built on a light carriage with 4 horses so they could keep up with the Cavalry, unlike 150mm guns being towed by draft horses, so why are they now moving at the same rate Phil?" line but he just ignored me |

Don't upset him. It will just delay even longer the new books. |

Sorry John but I intend to keep annoying him until all the FOW players are dead or have moved on to other rulesets – then they will release Barbarossa – with a "Ha told you we would win against that TT bloke" :) |

@goragrad – Sorry, but your picture is of a MG limber, not a Tchanka. ------------------------------------------ the pic is from group called tachanka.org – not a group set up to admire Russian equipment! 'Who or what is Tachanka?. Tachanka is an idea. It's the idea of providing technical services to emancipatory projects and groups of political change.' Wrong – its a horse drawn platform for a Maxim MG you bozos. Hopefully their technical services (related I think to sticking it to the Man) are better than their historical knowledge or indeed command of the English language (rather than their evident mastery of sociological gobbledegook).
As said above the pic is a of German limber for a Maxim MG gun, not a Tachanka. |
