I will be attempting to start a small series or multi-part mecha in 6mm pretty soon and am looking for some digital sculptors who may be interested. I'm intending to start really small then work my way up. I was thinking about using Kickstarter to help with the funds and to get a larger series funded all at once. I'm looking for one or two concept artists and a couple sculptors who have the time and would like to participate. I do have my first piece of art, but the fellow who designed it doesn't have the time to do more. This first mecha is a LAM stye design, but the general mecha will actually be set up to have interchangeable parts so players can put together what they need. I was intending to use ball and socket joins at the shoulders, neck and waist with a standard measurement so that as rule parts fit together. Obviously exceptions may be made based on the design of the individual part. If you want a rough idea what style I am looking for you may want to take a look at Armored Core or the newer Gundam series.
If this style strikes your fancy, please shoot me a message and we'll try and work something out. If things go well (which lets face it, doesn't happen as often as we'd like) I'd hope to see a big variety of different parts so you can tailor fit your mecha needs. I'll shoot him an email. Though I imagine the man is pretty busy. I was hoping that if someone was currently free they'd be able to get in touch with me. |

Glenn, don't expect anyone to go out of their way for you. If you're interested in getting anything done in this hobby business, be prepared to spend a lot of time making sure things get done. If you wait for others, you will get nowhere. Good luck. |

I've already hunted down and contacted 2 sculptors who are both interested and a caster. So realistically at this point I am fairly ok. I tend to have a natural gravitation towards people who are amateur and yet are looking to get in, hence my post here. There are tons of talented 3d modellers out there, some of which haven't had a chance to get anywhere, so I though by opening the door I might be able to help them. I've got my costs roughly sorted (though I am severely overestimating, read as doubling, every expense), so right now I am trying to gather reference art, break down my plan on what figures I want to do first, how I want them done, that sort of thing. I'll probably drop a feedback thread here soon to gather some concepts together. Even though I am pretty sure I've got the first handful of designs sorted, someone may have an idea that surprises me and I love. |

If you want to chat about the practical aspect of going from sketch to metal model, drop me an e-mail. Happy to share what I have picked up along the way. Michael.

Thanks Micheal, I'll do just that, thankfully the people I've talked to seem really happy to help me get started so far. |
