so…
how to do away with it?

I've had some success with putting a wash and then dulcoat on some of my prepaints…
(cars, tanks, buildings, and figs)

but other figs and buildings seem to shed washes…
and even though they were cheap,
I don't want to have to prime and repaint them.

any other tips/advice?

Thanks,
Chris

Spray matte then wash and re-spray maybe

Are you washing the prepaints before you spray them? A good soak in hot water and Dawn dishwashing detergent should help with Dullcote (sic) adhesion.

Minwax polyurethane stain would work (see "the dip"). It takes dullcote or brush on sealer quite well. I recommend against Future on PVC because it's too brittle and cracks when the figure flexes.

Sheen's no good unless you've got Jimmy Neutron too!

What type of figures are you talking about? Plastic army men? PVC figures?

NOLA Chris14 May 2013 11:52 a.m. PST

Hi nevinsrip
I have some prepainted cheap plastic robots
one old HO farmhouse
and some prepainted 20mm WW2 tanks
and 15-25mm cars

most of the vehicles I can get to tone down
but the robots…
the dulcoat just beaded up and jumped off the damn things!

I'll try washing them first
and then retry with spray dulcoat

Chris
