I just finished painting up two stands of Cracker Line Miniatures. One is the western Federals marching and the other C.S. loading and firing. I love these figures. I think they may be the best on the market for many reasons. Proportions, poses, durability and just darn good sculpting. I don't know that my painting does them justice up close. But here are a few pics anyway.

Nice figures and painting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these are 10mm figures right?

I nice compliment to the Buildings In Turmoil collection.

Thank you! Yes, these are 10mm figures! And yes, they are a nice compliment to Buildings in Turmoil! ;)

Beautiful figures, and I'm looking forward to painting my own. I'll admit a preference for more slouch hats on my Bluebellies, but I'm willing to expand my horizons. ;)

I know Bill is working on artillery, which will be very welcome – does anybody know if cavalry are in the works?

Cheers,

Christopher

Thanks general btsherman, when is your next posting of a game?

Nice painting job. I'm not one to complain, especially when it comes to any manufacturer willing to market 'Western Federals' (usually under represented) … but the rifles seem a bit over-sized, at least in the group of marching Yankees.

Hello folks, artillery in done, but I am almost sold out already. I have added them to the mould upcoming which includes a galloping limber. Christopher, on the cavalry, my sculptor, Bob Soutar informs me that we can borrow some of the horse figures from the galloping limber teams to use for cavalry. I will do two sorts, CS with pistols, shotguns and carbines and US with all of the above save for the shotguns and drawn sabers, which US cavalry continued to carry throughout the war. I also have a couple of specific units in the works. Namely the 8th Michigan replete with Old Abe, the regiments famous eagle mascot, and Wilder's Mounted Rifles. Stayed tuned, as I intend to keep adding to the line. My one problem with most lines are that they are never really brought to completion. Therefore, I will put my money where my mouth is and continue to build this line until I think it is complete. Should be some time in 2077! : )

PS – the rifles look pretty well-proportioned to me and I have carried them around in my reenacting days. Remember, most of the marching guys have bayonets fixed! However, everyone is entitled to an opinion. All I can say is they look pretty darn good on my table and we ain't gonna make em again!

@ Fire Zoauve, great paint job on the figures.

My figures will be carried by Buildings in Turmoil at Historicon. Also, you will see a great deal of them during my series of games – How the West was Lost Book 1 – Grant's 1863 Vicksburg Campaign. Four scenarios which are now in the PEL.

I just painted up two James Rifles and crew which I will try to post pics on later this week.

Very nice, although I've gone for Pendraken myself. I like the thin bases, they look very effective.

Guns and crew are done, but sold out in three days! I will have more by later this month – August for sure. Infantry in frock coats are in stock. Shown below are a mix of my sacks and frocks painted up as Yanks with Old Gunny flags available from Cracker Line as well.

What are you using for bases? I love how subtle they are.

FireZouave29 Jan 2014 7:34 p.m. PST

I actually cut my own tin for the bases. I like them thin. They blend into the battlefield better and look more like a diorama than a game!

Crusader 5529 Jan 2014 9:08 p.m. PST

Thin bases are where it's at…I've used them for my Nappy Minifig (old line)15mm, DBA 15mm Essex (all 109 armies I painted), and now plan to use for my new ACW project.

Otherwise our club has a guy who does his own (look just like WA), but access to obtain is based on his "day job". WORK (as opposed to passionate labor) is the most filthy of 4 letter words.

ACW Gamer30 Jan 2014 8:47 a.m. PST

Well, they are causing me to re – look at my basing!!
