Not the most fun I've had, but not a murderous task either, painting these 6mm dudes. I picked the Confederates when Thomas asked which side I would be interested in. From what I've read their troops/armies tended to be a bit smaller but also performed/were led better. But the main reason is that they have a lot more variety in colors on their uniforms within the units, a mix and match that would be a lot more rewarding to paint than simply dark blue jackets and light blue pants for the Union side of things. More pictures on my blog: link

Wow, those are gorgeous! Your paint job is more detailed than I did on my 10mm. |

Yes – very good. Only issue I have is the blue trousers – unless this is supposed to represent a very early war regiment, the trousers should be mostly grey and\or brown. A quote from the Action Front blog ( link ) "Trousers. These were wool pants in grays and browns. Gamers seem to think it was common to strip the dead of their Union sky-blue trousers. This wasn't really the case ( unless perhaps in winter if your trousers were blown out ) and the Confederate Government was adamant about NOT doing this. It was supposed to be the standard color ( sky-blue ) but that idea went out the window when they could never produce enough even in the VERY early days of the war. The trousers were held up by canvass or leather Braces or suspenders as we call them now. " |

Very nice. Not only are they better than my 6s and 10s, they are better than my 25s. |

the light blue trousers were indeed used whenever they were found(doubt the rebs took them off of dead union soldiers).a small sampling of post war accounts will bare this out. i've studied the battle of gettysburg for over 30 years, and i have in my collection, several acconts of the blue pants. it seems that there is a great deal of "revisionist thinking" on this subject. one of the "jems" in my collection is a note from the quartermaster of hills corp reguarding mcgowens brigade. it reminded pender to have the men dye the "large number of blue jackets" the men of the brigade were wearing at the start of the march north. quote:"while it is understood the jackets must be turned in or dyed to avoid confussion, the trousers may remain blue." |

I think a few figures would be ok with blue pants, but it seems a little heavy here. Great paining though. |

Lovely paint job and the figures look great. Why have Baccus cast those muskets on the left shoulder for the ACW? I thought only us Brits shouldered on the left while during the ACW it was 'Right shoulder shift arms'? does not detract from your paint job though :-) |
