Hey all,

Wanted to make sure this got out to any who missed it.

The KS is offering some great discounts on these models, and have now added a ton of Unlocks as the total climbs.

link

Even a few sets for those who have plenty of WWI Infantry already.

It is 18mm, so works well with the HO scale train sets.

There are also some Rules previews in the Updates as well.

The models look well done, and if they hit the big goals there are even land trains coming.

Note at this time they do not have a shipper in the UK they are working to get one to help with the shipping and fees there.

Also if you Pledge a dollar, you can then just choose models you want for your own system, at some good discounts.

Lee
Just one who pledged and hope it does well, also I was a bit critical of them until the last updates changed the Unlocks, so I am now helping them where I can.

Being mostly Steam Driven some of the tanks are massive, this update shows sizes.
Model Dimensions

Update #21 · May 11, 2013 · 4 comments
From the start we have had a lot of questions on size of the models. While the game may be 15mm in nature, there are loads of really big models taking to the battlefield! Here is a breakdown of the human and Martian forces by size.

HUMAN FORCES

Mk1 Baldwin Tank Chassis (and all tanks based off of this) – 3" long

Mk4 Monitor Tank – 4"x 3" x 2.5"

Trailer – +2" to Tank

Goliath – 8" x 3" x 4"

Land Ironclad – 12" x 4" x 7"

Infantry Bases – 100mm x 20mm

Bikes – 45mm x 40mm base

MG Teams – 40mm round base

MARTIAN FORCES

Assault Tripod – 6"

Scout Tripod – 5"

Grenadier Tripod – 4"

Harvester Tripod – 6"

Dominator Tripod – 7"

Overseer Tripod – 9.5"

Cylinder Terrain – 6" x 7" x 4"

Drones – 40mm round base, approximately 28mm model

Zombie Infantry – 100mm x 20mm

The 'All Quiet on the Martian Front' Kickstarter is a dream come true for me! I can't wait to play this game with Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of 'The War of the Worlds' playing in the background!

I'm not shy about 15mm scale anymore, I think it's very appropriate for the subject matter. Initially I had this weird misconception that the average tank would be 15mm long, but have since realize these are some hefty toys:)

I hope you all will pitch in to make this game a roaring success like it deserves to be:) I know a lot of you would like peeks of the rule systems or a video of the playtest games, and perhaps those will come soon:) Please remember, Kickstarter is to make dreams into reality:) It's not just to produce models, but also to give the staff time and money to hone the rules into their very best. Baker, Cavatore, and Priestley won't let us down!

ajbartman12 May 2013 6:19 p.m. PST

Yes, it is looking very nice.

Twilight Samurai12 May 2013 7:57 p.m. PST

Curious as to what use Infantry are in, what seems to be, a battle of machines.

TheRatGod12 May 2013 7:59 p.m. PST

^Cause in the early 1900s we humans(like today) rely on infantry the most.

Guthroth12 May 2013 11:10 p.m. PST

I suspect that if they can get a UK distribution deal this project will explode.

20% tax plus the 'handling charge' is killing the deal for me.

Bosco0513 May 2013 4:11 a.m. PST

I suspect Infantry defend very well in trenches and buildings/rubble. They may also do some damage if they can get up close and under a tripod – of course that may be a big if.

From what I've seen, there's a real role for infantry in the game

basileus6613 May 2013 7:25 a.m. PST

I would really, really enter this project, but, alas! the shipping charges and taxes would kill my budget! Damm… I hope I'll have the willpower to resist the temptation!

republic of tolworth13 May 2013 8:57 a.m. PST

It seems to look as if it will be a great game. Even if the rules arn't upto it (no reason they shouldn't though) all the figures are looking good.
I agree that the distribution may bea sticking point for us outside of the US,but if enough of us try they will sort that for sure.

Always worth dropping a few £ just to see were it goes. The rewards are very good. And it seems to have a well laidout plan for the future.

Thats me13 May 2013 10:22 a.m. PST

I think AQOTMF alredy made sukces.Thats good its inresting projet.

Guthroth15 May 2013 4:43 a.m. PST

I've caved in and joined the project for as much as I can manage based on what I expect to actually have to pay (not the price on the deal).

I'll stick with it if they get an EU distribution distribution deal, if not I'll probably pull the plug on the 2nd June.

If you think that's being cynical, fair enough, but I call it encouraging them to get a deal in place.

Lfseeney15 May 2013 11:27 a.m. PST

Some of the Infantry are assault guys they hide in "normal" stands when the TriPod is in Melee, they throw grapples and get a First Strike to plant charges to attack.

Also there will be Blip Movement where the INF can screen tanks or motorcycles, as the Martian sees movement but not what type of troop.

The Martians have slave troops of a zombie sort.

Also may have Lunar Bugs show up, and other races.

Wish I had more money to spend on it but it ends near Wedding Anv. and Vacation.

So my funding is limited, otherwise I would max it out.

Also they have added more rules previews, add-ons, and other goodies, so please pass the word, to any you think might enjoy it, that way we all get more free stuff.

Watch the Sky!

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa16 May 2013 9:55 a.m. PST

Hope they do get decent EU distribution deal as some of the tanks are really nice and I can see a couple of designs cropping up in 15mm not-40K armies. They would go great with my feudal technocracy army. Unfortunately I've no space, no money, and painting with a coliquey baby in one arm isn't going to fly.

OctaChaz16 May 2013 2:52 p.m. PST

Really want some of the tripods, shame about the shipping charges to the UK. Fingers crossed they get a UK distribution deal

Curufea16 May 2013 7:53 p.m. PST

I like the new Red Martian – I was already making plans to add hood ornaments from my spare Human miniatures (albeit I was going to use the low-detail HO scale railway plastics)

republic of tolworth17 May 2013 8:36 a.m. PST

I'm annoyed that it's gone to 18mm. Not 15 not 20mm but 18! That puts me in a right mess. Yeh so what if it fits with HO scale. Most wargames will have 15/20 already the mid way is a pain in the arse to honest. It's a pity 'cos I like the models and the whole idea behind it.

Looks like I may just be getting martians now ;(

republic of tolworth17 May 2013 9:23 a.m. PST

Well I hope my fears have been misplaced. Time will tell.

Lfseeney17 May 2013 8:03 p.m. PST

More of Heroic 15mm, 15 from foot to eye 18 to head, on the masters.
Also talk of them shrinking a bit maybe 1.2mm, they look like they will fit with most of the 15mm stuff I have already, or close enough.

The bulkyness I will write off as using extra layers of clothes to protect from Black Dust :)

And there are 2 pledges with no human Infantry if you prefer another or have your own.

Just had 4 rooms flood from a ex-toilet so my pledge dropped so I can pay my part of repairs. No Happy ATM.

Lee

republic of tolworth17 May 2013 11:43 p.m. PST

Sorry to hear that Lee. I thought I'd risk it as others have said they are okay, anf they have seen them in the 'flesh'.

Col Von Barring18 May 2013 6:22 a.m. PST

It looks as though the figures will fit in with other 15mm ranges except possibly peter pig which are about the smallest. This is according to other people who have seen the actual figures. Scenery wise you could get away with using 4ground 15mm buildings or HO model railway stuff or even 20mm at a pinch. Just don't try and mix it!

republic of tolworth19 May 2013 1:56 a.m. PST

The close up picture of them has me happy now. They look nice and I hope to see the infantry range expand.

Cacique Caribe21 May 2013 8:40 p.m. PST

Will there be any civilians, either standing around to stare at the aliens and/or those running for their lives?

And perhaps some civilian resistance fighters?

Dan

republic of tolworth22 May 2013 1:49 a.m. PST

Dan. Yes to both from what I can gather from Ernie and Jeff. The first batch is on the free items list and will no doubt be available as am add on sale.
The civiilans are listed as 'prey' pack of 15 I beleive. And there has been lots of talk of resistance fighters. These will be post KS though. I thing some of the Bluemoon figures may fit in with these. In which case plenty of options. Lots of ideas seem to be kicking around. Watch this space…

Cacique Caribe22 May 2013 7:38 a.m. PST

That's fantastic!!! Can't wait to see how things develop.

Thanks,

Dan

republic of tolworth22 May 2013 8:46 a.m. PST

It seems to be a game and setting that has a lot of options and I hope should go far. People need to think slightly differently though. Such things as tanks are made to fight martians not other humans. So low profile and heavy plate armour are not needed. Other fun factors such as steam boilers and few combustion engines. All good fun.

Go on jump in! You know you want to;)

Mooseworks822 May 2013 9:42 a.m. PST

Project Update #54: Shipping To UK And EU Solved!
Posted by Alien Dungeon

We are very pleased to announce that Renedra, the renowned manufacturer and retailer of plastic miniatures and accessories, has agreed to act as our European Union distributor for the All Quiet on the Martian Front Kickstarter only. We could not be happier with this outcome since Architects of War, our sister company, is the Exclusive North American distributor for Renedra.

What does this mean for you if you live in the UK or EU? There will be no increase in the flat rate shipping charge! You will receive the shipment of your pledge, freebies and any add-on goodies by paying the previously stated flat rate shipping, no additional charges.

So, we have 3 different categories that you can fall into…

**US – Free shipping

**UK and EU – Flat rate shipping stated in the pledge levels or shipping policy for Add-ons. No Vat or other import duties will be charged to you.

**Everybody Else – Flat rate shipping stated in the pledge levels or shipping policy for Add-ons. You will be responsible for any duty or taxes charged at the time of delivery, if applicable.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you all for being so patient while we hammered out the details!

B.E.F. Arrives in New York!

Teddy Roosevelt stood upon the balcony and watched the crowd wave and cheer at what seemed like teaming masses of troops of the B.E.F. as they marched down Broadway. The crowd was interesting in its own right to the careful observer. They just weren't Americans. This was New York City. The streets were lined with thousands and thousands of immigrants who had come there looking for a brighter future – Italy, Ireland, Greece, Germany, China- in fact , people from all over the globe. It was as if humanity itself was represented. Cheering. Cheering for salvation from the inhuman monsters that had come from another world. Teddy was also waving with the crowd with his signature grin stretching from ear to ear. Those closest to him could tell that grin was just a little more pronounced. "Bully, bully indeed" he repeatedly muttered, from time to time, as a new unit appeared.

While the public, and even most of his cabinet did not know was that this was the most cheerful Teddy had been in many months. The War, in truth, was going badly. True, the army had rallied after its shocking losses and initial defeats. True, the entire country, every man, woman and child was working, always working, night and day to rush materials to the Front. Training centers everywhere were turning every able bodied man in America into soldiers from the age of 16 to 55. So many scientists, inventors, industrialists – all were throwing everything they could at the "Martian" problem. Old political rivalries were even pushed to the side in the great struggle.

All of that, and daily sacrifices from everyone, and yet America was losing. The Canadians' were losing. Teddy knew it and the generals knew it. Did the Martians? They had stopped at the Mississippi river for the most part and, though new attacks sprung up along the line every week, the Martians weren't pressing to hard. The great military minds and Teddy had come to one conclusion. The Martians were consolidating and preparing for the Big Push. The final push. Reports from the occupied territories clearly indicated they were very busy. Cylinders were still falling every night.

Despite the relationship that had been deepening between America and the UK after the First Martian War, Teddy's efforts to get real help in the form of men and materials had been hard. The British were very grateful for all the help America had given them in rebuilding, especially since so little had come from Europe, but England was hard pressed to hold onto their Empire. In India, the Martians were barely being held at bay by the forces of the Common Wealth. Hong Kong had fallen and all of North Africa including the Sudan and Egypt. At home, the British were even more nervous. What if cylinders fell there? What if France or Germany decided to strike while the UK was so hard pressed?

The British did commit to their American allies in the end. The BEF had arrived and, in all its technological wonder, was driving down Broadway. As spectacular as the sight of the new Imperial and Kitchener tanks were, as impressive as the trotting lines of Sikh horseman were, the marvel of the Gyro tanks, the sound of the bagpipes, Teddy couldn't help but wonder in the end. His trademark grinned faded, if just for a moment. Would it be enough?

I'm out of ammo for this one! Best kickstarter I've done. Great models and great background work. The rules I've seen so far look to be top notch. Happy puppy(launched or otherwise) with all at AD.

Well done guys.

vonhist02 Jun 2013 11:12 p.m. PST

Big bonuses at 300K, already all pledges getting at least 2.5 x pledge, most are at 3x+.

Even if you have no money this month pledge $1 USD and give yourself to grab some cheap add ons in post KS option.

currently @ 265K

republic of tolworth02 Jun 2013 11:26 p.m. PST

We near the glorious end. The deals are fantastic on this game. Hope the rules live up to it as well. No reason they won't , just hope the game play is as fun as the figures.

Yeah, some great packages, and I'm *really* hoping it squeaks over the 300 line, as plastic tanks (plus the extras) would be very welcome, and probably help their overall bottom line too, as it ought to cut the production costs of the base game "set" by a few quid. Definitely looking touch and go at the moment, though – it's gonna be close.
