Eddie Izzard as Wellington, Dame Edna as Napoleon! but seriously folks, why remake Waterloo? It's one of the better historical war movies. Lot's of others that should be re-done; and lots of books, even only in Napoleonic genre; that have never been done as movies.

P.S. if Sean Bean is cast as anybody it HAS to be the Prince of Orange!

PPs. maybe Rowan Atkinson as Napoleon!

Otherwise it's a fairly good movie…
OH NO NO NO it's not. I watch it like a sucker every time but it is so campy to me it's funny. I do love Panxerlied though.

@spontoon

I was thinking Mr Bean as the Prince of Orange…..

My first choice for Napoleon: Joaquin Phoenix. I noticed in Gladiator how much he looks like him.

Likely a good choice…

Russel Crowe – an Australian to play a Corsican ruling France? Nah.

Cheers,

Sure Crowe could play a Corsican. It is called acting.

I think we should leave the acting bits as they are, and just splice in a bunch of well-done CGI battle scenes (WETA, maybe?).

And maybe we can get them to edit out the infamous "Belgian Alps" in the background.

This here. A movie that you watch every time you run across it is a "good" movie, whether it's actually a good movie or not.

The only things about this movie are:

1. No love story, so no women.

2. It needs to be at least 24 hours long. I would prefer 30 hours but will go with ten.

3. Spend only an 2 hours on the movement and prior to battle story.

4. The rest is on the Battles that happen. Use 12 hours to tell of the two battles and 10 for the final Battle of Waterloo.

Sophie Marceau is a bit passe, perhaps Isabelle Adjani?
