Aside from the nice (but rather expensive) models by Grand Manner, are there any other resin models of sandbag emplacements suitable for the Vietnam era?

Must be a UK manufacturer.

Doesn't Pegasus make a good set of those?

So yes, yes they do.

Go to the local Dollar Store or your equivalent, and buy a boy of modelling clay. Take a chunk and roll it until you have a snake like thing in a reasonable thickness for your figure scale. Take a knife and chop it into pieces of a reasonable size, then pinch/flatten the ends of each piece and there are your sandbags. Really, you don't even need to do the indvidual bags, just make enough of a slice that the pieces look individual. Prime them black, and then dry brush on your preferred color.

Yes, please don't buy sandbags, they are the easiest and chaepest things to make.

I hate making terrain. If I can buy it rather than make it I buy it. Sandbags included. Crates too.

The Pegasus models are very good for the price.

We do some ready painted dugouts – all earth embankments and sandbags. There are several emplacements and a range of trench parapets than can be used to make a firebase set up. Have a look here – link

I stock sandbag emplacements from four different companies but all are from the USA.

Hi Shaun,

I did look in your lists but did not notice sandbag emplacements: whereabouts are they? I just want basic sandbag structures, not with other clutter.

Some pictures would be good.

Regards,

Alan

You might check with somone who is able to do Hirsch Arts casting. I stock them from two companies and they are very reasonable.

In an article in a Wargamers' Digest from the 70's, it described how to make sandbag structures out of mini-Chiclet gum lozenges by gluing them together in whatever configuration you wanted. I tried this with PVA, but the water in the glue made the sugar coating melt and run. Epoxy, perhaps?

Scotia-Grendel has sandbag terrain in their range.
