I don't write the articles. I just pass them along. That said I think the dynamics if the combat wound etc is interesting. Moreover, how about a medical time travel story where doctors go back in time to save people and see how that plays out in an alternative time line branch. Doesn't effect our time line but we can see the what ifs etc. |

"Scholars have long questioned whether it was an infection or pneumonia that killed " Pneumonia is an infection. Typical quality reporting from Huff Post. |

I always thought getting shot had alot to do with it. Of course we could go all philosophy on you and state that birth is the leading cause of death

As someone who works in the medical field I am going to guess it was a Pulmonary Embolism that killed him. The author even mentioned it. The trauma and most likely the immobility after his amputation leads to a hyper-coaguable state in the blood leading to blood clots. These clots arise in the deep veins of the legs and when they break off they go one of two places
the brain or the lung. In Jackson's case it was probably what killed him if I had to guess. |

Been there, done that, didn't die. My MD friend said, "you were damn lucky." |

I once attended a lecture on the subject by two doctors. They concluded it was a Pulmonary Embolism. As if it matters. |

So, supposing he lived and recovered
with him present would Lee have won Gettysburg
or would there have been a Gettysburg? |
| Generalstoner49 | 12 May 2013 7:16 a.m. PST |
Don't think there would have been a Gettysburg
at least not to the level we know it. |

Had he survived his Chancellorsville wounding, he would probably be dead by now anyway. |

To use the style of "The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight", he died of natural causes while being shot and having a limb amputated. |

Of course we could go all philosophy on you and state that birth is the leading cause of death
Or rather its the start of a process which enables death to occur. Of itself its not a cause its an enabler. Not the same thing. |
