Hi all,

I'm not sure which area this belongs so I put it in two (mods feel free to remove incorrect one).

I am looking for a miniature (25mm~ scale) to represent the guy shown in this picture:

picture

Reaper used to sell one that was pretty close: link
but it's now OOP

I thought you guys may be able to help :-)

Important things to me are that it should be male, of a barbaric appearance (so not an elf with spear) and have some form of polearm (glaive/spear/pike etc). Armour is open to debate at the moment but preferably not fully clad.

Thanks all

How about a GW Uruk-hai?

My first thought was Lurtz with a weaon swap.

I honestly hadn't thought of that *facepalm*!!

I had checked all the Warhammer fantasy stuff, Reaper, Avatars of War, Kings of War etc. Never thought to look at LOTR.

Thanks guys :-)

Cool pic.

Amazing that you managed to find one of the few miniatures that Reaper doesn't still sell. Even if it's not in the current catalog, nearly every 25/28mm figure (that was not part of a limited licensed line) that they have ever sold is still available direct from the company via their NIC (not in catalog) list.

Not that figure though.
It's a licensed figure (Exalted) they no longer have the license for.

Yeah I was surprised that it wasn't available, I think the model fit the picture quite well too. Never mind though, The uruk-hai look pretty good so I'm still happy :)

If I revisit this thread in 6 months Reaper will have probably started issuing a huge number of half-orc type models (like how they recently introduced more knolls) :)

I only learnt about Reaper 6 months ago through their Kickstarter Bones campaign, I've bought about a dozen models since for D&D characters :) I much prefer the Reaper stuff to GW now as a rule of thumb :)

Yeah, Reaper stuff is quite nice. In general they tend to be about half the cost of comparable metal GW figs and the sheer variety is really impressive.

Though they aren't as useful in wargames except as characters, it does looks like reaper is making a few more small steps toward those who want to affordably build units for wargaming. As well as skeleton packs, the Bones KS kickstarter has some really nice orcs in multiple poses.

Well I play D&D mainly so the figures act as great characters. You are right about them not offering armies persay but they are making efforts to improve that.
The bones miniatures are really good value. I recently ordered a werewolf model for £1.50 GBP ($2~).

I have a guy in the UK too that orders my models for me too now because it works out cheaper to buy through him than get them straight from Reaper after postage, tax, customs etc. Plus supporting small business :-)

I look forward to seeing Reaper grow and grow, with the inclusion of army sets and the like to enable full wargaming.

Though they aren't as useful in wargames except as characters,

They aren't?

My massive Skeleton army, my Templar army, and my Black Legionnaire army would beg to differ.

The dwarves would chime in too, but they aren't painted so I don't count them.
