I'd like to suggest that Tango01/Armand get his own board for posting his many & varied news articles.

I'm sure all his large number of varied news posts are more than the messages on many boards that already exist.

Or maybe instead, hand the management of TMP's Hobby News over to him as a whole.

We've been through this.
The answer is no.

Black Cavalier10 May 2013 12:25 p.m. PST

Oh sorry, I didn't know this (or something like it) had been discussed before. I withdraw my suggestion.

What an original post.

Frothers Did It And Ran Away10 May 2013 1:32 p.m. PST

Tango pays his money so he has as much entitlement to post as and when he pleases as the next supporting member provided he doesn't break any of the site's rules.

However.

Increasingly I find having to mentally parse out the sheer volume of his posts when scanning the front page pretty tedious.

Some members like his posts, some consider them spam.

Solution that will please everyone: Bill to tweak the site's code so that threads started by users you have stifled do not show on your front page, much like how you can check or un-check different boards. Tango-sceptics can then stifle him and not have his threads on their front page. Tango-enthusiasts can read his links and bits of copy-and-paste Wikipedia text to their hearts' content.

MajorB10 May 2013 1:46 p.m. PST

I second AK's suggestion.

Mako1110 May 2013 1:47 p.m. PST

I enjoy his postings.

Without them, there'd be a lot less content on TMP.

The Beast Rampant10 May 2013 2:07 p.m. PST

Definitely.

hocklermp510 May 2013 2:58 p.m. PST

I enjoy his postings and save many of the pictures of dioramas as guides to uniforms and painting well. I have followed many of the links that he finds and they often are quite informative. I do not understand the negative reaction to Tango.

Yes this is invidious. OK perhaps I share Tango's tastes in what is interesting and what is not, but even so you can't segregate or marginalise an individual because you don't happen to share their tastes…Hasn't this concept of fairness been an Anglo-Saxon fundamental pretty much since we came out of the caves….and now successfully exported to the New World and other parts of the english speaking globe? Since this is an english speaking site I think we should retain such decencies.

First they come for Tango, then they'll come for you…

Yup – what Sparker said (although I don't think history went Caves Anglo-Saxons Modern World grin )

We've been over this before, no vote here.

Personal logo John the OFM Supporting Member of TMP10 May 2013 4:33 p.m. PST

WRONG!!!!!
We have had far too many "Should the OFM…" or "Should Connard Sage…" type Polls in the past.
They are ALL evil and wicked.
They invite "Personal Attacks", and should be banned.

Back in the misty years, someone wrote "And then I will not have to read the OFM's drivel". That is the kind of garbage that Polls like this invite.
There was a proposal that there should be an "OFM Board", where I was to be confined to my own ghetto. It was wrong then, it is wrong now.

And, by the way, The Editor is NOT required to run every Poll suggestion that comes down the pike. some are inherently wrong. As is this one.
That is what the STIFLE function is for.

Company D Miniatures10 May 2013 4:38 p.m. PST

I like Tango's posts

Quebecnordiques10 May 2013 5:06 p.m. PST

Tango is prolific but cool.

His input into TMP does not disturb me at all.

Sparker undoubtedly means well but this Anglo-Saxon fairness thing is surreal. And then there was that bit about the caves… ;-)

Groundhog day again…..I expect the next topic will be about gettimg rid of stifles…

Post as much as you like Armand and everyone else can do the same!

Personal logo John the OFM Supporting Member of TMP10 May 2013 6:17 p.m. PST

If there were a Super Stifle function that would hide Topics or Threads started by a particular Member, I would support that.
No one should be forced to look at titles of threads started by me or any other heinous offender of your tastes.

darthfozzywig10 May 2013 6:51 p.m. PST

Back off my man Tango: he contributes more here than anyone else I can think of.

Coelacanth10 May 2013 7:39 p.m. PST

He's having fun, I haven't known him to be overbearing or derogatory. Sometimes he finds cool things. As long as he is being so pleasant, I say let the man be.

"I'm glad you have enjoyed it, my friend".

D00Dz!! Jeeze! I already said by the 4th message I didn't realize this had already been discussed & I withdrew my suggestion.

I should stifle you all for continuing to discuss something already decided.

Altius10 May 2013 7:43 p.m. PST

Yes, it's been done before. It's been done to death.

Tango01 Supporting Member of TMP10 May 2013 10:44 p.m. PST

Again?……
Incredible!.

This should make a record here!

Apart from the logical stifles that amount my account with any new of them, if it's the new sport at TMP, well… enjoy it!!.

Not bad feelings from my part.

By the way, I propose a new own board to each one of the 30 fellow members or so who had posted more than myself!. (big smile).

Just for the record, I realise that the history of human development didn't go straight from cave to the mother of parliaments.

Unusually for me I was trying to be brief…

Texas Jack11 May 2013 2:50 a.m. PST

I say this every time this tiresome subject comes up:

Giving Tango his own board is akin to exiling him, and why, oh why, should anyone be punished for the heinous act of using this forum?

badwargamer11 May 2013 3:53 a.m. PST

Black Cavalier…..a lot of people jump to Armand's defence because they assum it is yet another attack on Armand.

From your reply it seems you meant it as a genuine discussion topic and didn't realise it has been discussed regularly at length before. So for that you can be forgiven.

It is a bit ironic though, as Armand is always being slated for reposting news that has already been discussed…..:-)

Deja vu all over again!

But yes, badwargamer is right, I believe your suggestion was sincere, but this topic is really tired out.

Personal logo John the OFM Supporting Member of TMP11 May 2013 6:34 a.m. PST

Bear in mind that you cannot control thev flow of a thread once started.
YOU may think that things have been settled, but they are not.

Gazzola11 May 2013 7:45 a.m. PST

Talking of Tango01 having his own board or being exiled is as silly and baffling as the stifle question.

Like it or not, what Tango01 offers is usually always something different. So just enjoy those you like and click out of those you don't. Simples!

Now is not the time to wobble, Gazzola wink

Being a medievals fan, I like Tango's posts because many of them seem to be related to medieval themes.

The poor shrinking violets of the TMP who use the stifle function so they don't suffer a fit of the vapors, so for them it works.

As for Tango, I have stated so many times before I support my cousin, enjoy his posts.

Rampantlion, I was going to say the same thing about the number of 'horse & musket' & naval posts Armand makes ;-)

"It is a bit ironic though, as Armand is always being slated for reposting news that has already been discussed…..:-)"

Ironic and rare my friend.

In the last month I count 37 theads of fellow members that I had previosly post and NOBODY point that.

But as I had said.

If they are happy with that… good for them!.(smile).

I would don't stop untill I take John trone! (big smile).
(Just kidding John).

Blues for baby and me

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Never! Never! Never! They very thought!

No, no one should stifle. There is no need. What I meant by 'click out', is to just click out of the thread or post and go to another one.

After all, we all know that no one is forced to read or view them, so there is no need to stifle anyone or exile the poster. And most people seem to enjoy most of what Tango01 posts.

Death to the stifle!
