Hi everyone, Just wanted to show off some concept images of the "Hell Divers" that are currently being sculpted for ClearHorzion Miniatures to go along with our drop pods (and other things too!) Hope you like them! I know i'm excited
Thanks for looking! Harold ClearHorizon Miniatures |

Well.. There goes my plan not to buy anymore minis for a while.
I love the concept. |

That weapon looks familiar . . . Not in a bad way, though, and the trooper looks great! |

weapon from the new xcom? :P |

The drop pod, troopers and background reminds me of ODST. Looking forward to see how this develops. Do the Hell Divers use support weapons? |

Weapon looks like the rifle Tom cruise used in the new scifi movie oblivion. I did quite like that movie Oh, and BTW, I had a nice post written out, but then spontoon: I have some of those as well. They are still available, actually. took it's place, those aren't my words, someone is trying to silence me! Actually, I'm sure it's the dreaded bug
agh As far as support weapons, the squad will have a SAW/AT trooper. Able to select either high-explosive, or anti-armor with a flick of a switch. High-Energy Plasma containment is a wonderful thing I'll also be developing some drones that are designed to drop at the same time as the pods and provide decoys, and provide heavy support on the ground. The drones will be a bit smaller than man sized and will have counter-rotating fan blades that fold up for entry. The idea behind this range is to take the tactics and techniques out there currently and extrapolate it in a "hard" sci-fi way. This is a range that i've always wanted to buy, so I hope you guys like it too! I'm hoping to have miniatures for sale around mid-june, (and drop pods before that) but of course it's impossible to say for sure. |

Well done indeed
the backpack, of all things, the backpack caught my eye. I wish you and yours all the good luck and success to see this project through :D |

Well done indeed
the backpack, of all things, the backpack caught my eye. Thanks! You know, it's funny, that was one of the major things I wanted from these miniatures. It might be the future, but we still have to lug stuff around! It has hard composite edges, and hard compartments since it has to survive drop insertion, but it also has advanced fabric (futuristic kevlar, similar to their under-armor) sections as well, because weight is important! Here is some background on them, including their equipment: The airlock slid shut with a heavy thud. Colonel Odea surveyed the 5 members of his team as they prepared themselves for high-velocity orbital insertion. Sergeant Vance was ensuring the other members of the squad were properly restrained in the insertion vehicle. The squad was a well-oiled machine and extremely capable. They had completed drops like these both in training and during actual missions hundreds of times before. The Sergeant wasn't checking because he thought they might have made a mistake, he was checking because that was what he was trained to do. That's what keeps you alive. Sergeant Vance carried an Mk19a HEP (high-energy plasma) rifle, the standard issues for the HEL/DIV squads. His composite armor was molded on the flexible body suit that he wore. The composite armor pieces could withstand direct impact from most weapon systems on the battlefield and the flexible body suit not only had a chameleon-effect capability, but it also had an impressive impact rating. Woven into the various parts of the body suit were sensors and displays, along with first aid pharmaceutical reservoirs capable of diagnosing and stabilizing most battlefield injuries. Colonel Odea slide his helmet on and locked it into place. As the subsystems were powered on the helmet went from a dark room with a window to a view of everything around him. Augmented reality displays meant that he had an almost 360' view with magnification and image mode sensors available ona command. It was state of the art and since this was the command version it included a highly-sophisticated suite of communication capabilities as well. Colonel Odea checked his weapon, the same Mk19a HEP, and synced it to his helmet. A reticule appeared in his field of vision indicating where the weapon was aiming, the range to nearest target, firing mode and ammunition remaining. Odea placed the weapon into the restraint next to his seat. Sgt. Vance finished his pre-drop check and signaled to Odea that the squad was ready for drop. Col. Odea voiced over the communications channel to the Bridge "Gold-Four, ready". "Gold-Four, this is ClearHorizon Actual, initiation complete. Have a pleasant flight." The weightless sensation and the sound of the outer-hull doors opening told Col. Odea that he had 10 seconds before the exit thrusters would fire and he would be clear of the ship. Then another two minutes of high-orbit descent and six minutes until the retro-thrusters would fire and they would be on the ground. The exit thrusters fired.

Looks very nice, and I look forward to the release of these. About the only nit I care to pick, and it is a minor one, is the helmet looks just a little too small to me, compared to the rest of the body. Looks to me like it's the right size for a head, but assuming there is some padding, and/or internal open space in there, the guy's head must be pretty small. |

ako11- I think I can see what you're saying. I think that the guy is correctly proportioned for a chap in bulky armour and a not bulky helmet (and – anyway – how that translates from an artists mock upto a model is a whole different matter). I can see the reason for a quite close fitting helmet (I have to wear a bike helmet and it's suprising how much the chin piece gets in the way of just everyday tasks [like looking down to zip up your jacket]) so small – at the front/visor/chin area at least if it can be done – is a great thing. But how it looks and the reality of it (and the tiny wee model) are all different things. Rock on Mr H! John T EDIT: I guess the 'suit' and helmet have quite an 'Iron man' vibe about them, proportion wise (so a close fitting helmet) |

"I'll also be developing some drones that are designed to drop at the same time as the pods and provide decoys, and provide heavy support on the ground"- Harold You stimulated my imgaination with that statement. I could see troopers dropping directly on the objective and support pods landing around them to provide area denial. More than just heavy weapons I could see them used as giant claymore or anti tank mines. They could also generate a multi spectrum smoke aresol for concealment. Another pod that dispenses a bunch of remote control Goliath demolition charges. Another pod that dispenses collapsable light weight runabouts for the team or to load freed hostages and captured items on. One more pod with a 60mm mortar and auto loader. Some pods could be held in reserve and on call for where the Hell Divers need them. |

Hmmm
look amazing! Or, as another option for drop pods. How about a drop pod, that actually folds out into an AI Combat Walker! The thing drops, then spreads it's legs like a drop pod, then suddenly starts to assembled itself "Transformers" style with bits moving around to connect etc etc. Suddenly, BAM! Six foot tall, pulse cannon equipped, arthropod combat walker! |

These look very cool! Looking forward to their release! |

I see what you're saying, but I think it's just a quirk of the concept art. Rod is sculpting these, so everything will be appropriately proportioned Or, as another option for drop pods. When When When When;)?Good model.I like the Gun |
| Eli Arndt | 10 May 2013 9:51 a.m. PST |
I really like the design. It seems to hit on a lot of variations of scifi without a lot of compromise. It's hard enough a design for hard scifi folks while also having a styling that would allow it to function in higher concept scifi settings. -Eli |

The gun from the side looks like a H&K G-11 with a built in clip fed under barrel grenade launcher. |

MrHarold | 11 May 2013 6:51 a.m. PST |
Im curious are the bakpaks gona be seperate or cast on? Right now the miniatures are being designed with the backpack cast on, to really get the look right. But, since I am having dollies created, it would be possible in the future to have separate backpacks! Thanks, Harold |

Backpak cast on is pefect for me;)Id not like to glue tiny miniatures. Thanks for info. |

Only criticism I've got is that I feel the rifle would look better were it bullpup. As it stands the barrel looks really short and everything rear of the trigger assembly is wasted space. |
| Lion in the Stars | 12 May 2013 2:05 p.m. PST |
A related thought to the 'drop pod unfolds to combat walker' idea: drone VTOLs that arrive in drop pods and pop about 1000m up, unfolding/transforming into close air support. (See also Lockheed Cormorant UAV concept) |
MrHarold | 12 May 2013 2:11 p.m. PST |
Only criticism I've got is that I feel the rifle would look better were it bullpup. As it stands the barrel looks really short and everything rear of the trigger assembly is wasted space. the idea behind the design is that it is a plasma gun. the stock holds the catalyst chamber that reacts with the fuel in the "magazine" which is then propelled down the barrel via magnetic fields. and thanks for all the comments guys! some great ideas and feedback! |

Thanks guys
I have some cool announcements coming up too Good good. Can u say someting about numer of unit in squad /pack /blister
.how many poses etz o its to early.Iv alredy painteg this model in mine mind;)Looks cool Currently I have planned (subject to change!) 6 minis per squad pack. A command figure, a support weapon figure, and 4 plasma/riflemen. All will be in "tactical" poses that look "realistic" to what you'd see in the modern military. |

Any news here?;) Not Yet! I'm waiting for the 3d print for the Drop Pod
I might get that next week. I'm waiting for the dollies (torso and legs, head and weapon, all separate [except the torso and legs are together]) and that is currently planned for the end of may to be completed and off to the master mold. As soon as I have the next step I'll post some pictures, and updates here, on the facebook page ( link ) and on the google+ page: link |
