Those really are nice. I remember when I started Napoleonic wargaming in 1960 or 61, you had to have Der Hanbuch der Uniformkund by Knotel. You also needed a German-English dictionary or some way to translate at least the tables of uniform facings, etc., unless of course you read German.

Then came the books like Funcken, first in French only, but color illustrations, thelater the more in depth Ospreys.

Now it is all free onthe internet.

It was fun in the old days, digging all this out. But so much easier today.

Alas, back then folk used to take anything in print as The Bible. Now, they'll argue yer Bleeped text off about obscure details of uniforms, and produce reams of prints from the internet to sup[port their argument!

I still like Preben Kannik's book.

so much info..started with Funcken in French some 40 years ago and now…overload..used to be it was red piping for the french now it's what shade OF RED…hey it's all good..
