I have a load of this that I need to clear out – boxed sets, the Italian army big box, tanks, half tracks, artillery, planes, and then loads of blisters with infantry, snipers, support plus single vehicles, paint sets, decals etc. So my questions? Is this stuff still useful to the FoW community, or have the models etc changed out of all recognition (mine must be 5 years or so old)? What is the best forum to sell – eBay, TMP membership or something else – does FoW have a "for sale" section, or is it all current produce? how do I label this stuff up so people know they are getting "old" stuff rather than current production? Is a picture enough or is there an "accepted statement" that the cognescenti use? Thanks |

It's ALL useful. Miniatures are miniatures, after all. Ditto paints and decals. It's not as if V3 dropped Fallschirmjaegers or Bersaglieri. very little unit organization changed, and besides, I over-buy anyway. I would do a TMP Membership with Marketplace first. No fees, beyond the Membership, and no gambling with the price. |

Absolutely still usefull. Some people use the miniatures for other games as well. By all means look at ebay to get an idea of what the current market value is then put it up for sale here after purchasing a supporting membership. The prices here are typically less than ebay approx 50-60% retail as people like a bargain but there are no fees past the initial membership. Take pictures and post them on a free hosting site that you can link to. Still in package should be an easy sell. If there are opened and loose, part painted or not a complete platoon because of missing teams you may want to lump that all together in a cheap bits and pieces lot. David |

The US certainly could have sat it out. I'm glad we didn't, though. -Kle. |

or have the models etc changed out of all recognition --------------- well as they are models of real vehicles, then no. Whether one likes BF models (I do) is another matter but we're not talking here about fantasy sci-vehicle Mk1 being changed in the Codex for fantasy vehcile Mk1 so its not a matter of them being unsaleable or fit for the bin or parts box (to be frank some of the older BF stuff is better than some of the new and some of the BF stuff even old is better than some other makers stuff anyway – varies on the line) Not being sarky btw, but as said people use the models for other rule sets so its not a case of the Pz IVH being a trademark /copyright of the FOW hobby. I'd advise against btw lumping stuff into a bits and pieces lot if opened or even if part painted unless you really have to, as the price you will get for such a lot will be pants – I sold a part painted and open RHA battery box set (now OOP) for £41.00 GBP GBP on ebay which I was reasonably pleased with – I just made sure to point out which pieces were missing or were replaced by something else. It takes a few minutes to go to the BF website or check the contents somewhere else (as there are pics of even OOP packs usually somewhere on the net) but its worth doing it I think rather than seling it as a pot luck. Btw the above is what I wrote in my post above which was strangely changed to a comment by someone else entirely re another thread! |

should be sci-fi fantasy vehicle MkI being changed for MkII of course |

Oh, and I would be interested in your Italians. Especially the Bersaglieri! |

Sorry, I did not mean to imply that the tanks etc change, but I am aware that sculpting styles have changed over the years, and so the stuff I have may be "different" to current production. And even though a tank should not change, I am sure my half resin/half metal versions will be different to current production (probably). Luckily, I only have new boxed/blistered stuff, where only one blister (US infantry I recall) has opened over time, so I do not have oddments -I have a wide selction of stuff and periods, but no loose FoW stuff. On the other hand, I will also off load my Skytrex/Old Glory 15mm WW2 stuff, and that comes in strange numbers etc. As some of that is painted I will definitely need to try and get some decent photos – I did the T34s with two turrets each (like the old Airfix kit) – 76mm and 85mm, and I think I have some SUs 122s painted up. Long time no look. And a TMP supporting membership seems a good place to start |

I don't think actually that the vehicles have changed at all in 5 years – other than some now going to plastic either entirely or to track assemblies re things like the Shermans. Figure wise the older casts (like the Americans etc – mainly by Evan) are probably better than the more recent ones done by designers who have now left |

Most of the new BF infantry figures are quite bad: skinny, big heads, out of proportions
If you have older cast figures i think they are even more valuable than recent releases. |

is there a way to identify the versions – perhaps from bar codes? Any photo I take of stuff in blisters is unlikely to show much detail. Thanks. |

i'd think that if you have 5 year old stuff most of it will be the more recent stuff – some of the more recent poorer stuff was not so much a replacement as a new variant (like the pretty dire US infantry in the Armoured Infantry box set). I know that people wax lyrical about the older British infantry but i think that is stuff that goes back much more than 5 years if you have stuff in blisters then search for it on the FOW website by code and you can see if its OOP or if the figures resemble the current version – if so then just use a colour pic but make it clear that its unpainted – photos of blisters are not too dynamic really – if its part assembled/painted then of course take a pic |

Talking to a friend who is into FoW he noted that some of this stuff says made in New Zealand, so he suggests it is older than my initial hazy recollection. For example, the 8.8cm Flak36 Platoon I have shows a 2005 copyright, and several boxes say 2004 (such as the Pz4 box). I bought all my stuff together, but the blisters have no dates on them. I imagine that the codes have stayed consistent on the BF website, but the figures doo not seem to be the latest versions with big heads etc. I will list all these out by code, join TMP and list them ahead on sticking them up on eBay. |

Two things to look for, as far as vintage is concerned. If any of the vehicles are cast in white resin, they are some of the original models. I find that some of these are excellent, some Shermans with cast on storage. Also, if any infantry (or AFVs) come in the green, hanging boxes, with the small plastic window, they are also old. These figures are some of the best, too, with proper proportions and details. If any of your collection contain these, be sure to mention it in the listing. Don |

yeah. I just got at Little Wars a couple of those old pack infantry blisters, some 75mm pack howitzers for US Paras and some US engineers. |

I have those 75s, too, as well as the Paras. Nice poses, and well sculpted. Don |

Bartertown. EBay. The first is free. The second gets higher prices thru auctioning. All figs are useful, the rules less so but some people probably still play 2.0 or just want to give it a go at a low cost. |
