I'm finally getting around to finishing my armies for Kolin and I need a whole bunch of Hussars for both the Prussians and the Austrians. My current Hussars are all Front Rank but I'm looking for some variety. Anybody want to volunteer an opinion on whose figures might match well with Front Rank? Any reasonably stated opinion welcome. I'm also going to need three figures to represent the Saxon Chevauleger. Any ideas for those?

Thanks in advance.

Eureka make a nice Saxon Hussar. Could be used in a pinch.

Well, you could do a lot worse than Foundry

Crusader makes some but I think they are a bit stiff compared to Front Rank and Foundry

Foundry and Crusader should fit in well with your Front Rank figures in terms of size and chunkiness. The Foundry hussars have a lot of character and I had fun painting them.

Foundry do a variety of Hussars with different headgear so they would probably be the best choice. Pelisses are separate pieces, too; so even more variety can be made.

Sounds like Foundry is the choice then. Nobody makes Saxons?

Greetings

Eureka have normal Chevauleger/Dragoons as well as Regt Bruhl. See link

I'll emphatically second Eureka's Saxon cavalry for Kolin. However the Eureka mounts might just be a litttle shorter in the leg than Front Rank's. If you haven't yet mounted all of your Front Rank hussars, one solution may be to give them the Eureka horses and use Front Rank ones for the Eureka chevaulegers. Or talk to Nic about buying just the riders – it's certainly worth a try.

Front Rank Hussars = Colossi en elefanten!
